Fired through two layers of denim into a 40 gallon drum of water
-
Very nice. I like those bullets!
-
I was very impressed with the controlled expansion and weight retention.
-
...
-
Fired from 20 feet up a ladder.
-
expanded to what? .6? .8?
-
.71 and .74
-
Great looking performance!
-
my favorites!!
-
Shooting straight down your ladder into a tub of water below you!? :chuckle: Gotta love it! Were your neighbors impressed? :chuckle:
-
no toes were harmed in the field testing of this product, lol that is a cool post, but i couldnt help thinking of bullets flying past said feet
-
Haha the tub was about 6 feet away from the foot of the ladder. Had a good angle there. Not even close to my feet. :chuckle:
-
Check this guys stuff out. Great stuff but you'll lose a couple of hours watching him and his 200+ videos testing ammo:

I shoot the federal HST that they sell only to police but can be found online at police supply vendors like streichers.
-
I run the pdx1 ammo, great ammo! I am also planning on playing with the critical defense.
-
Gold Dot 124gn +P 9mm
and
PDX1 180gn .40cal for me
-
This is the only way I am doing my water tests any more :chuckle:

Carp how did the tests on the pdx1 go? I just bought a box of those as well!
-
There is a reason I carry it every day in my side arm  They are outstanding and I trust them 100% to do the job when it is needed.
-
Awesome!
-
Very solid bullets and I run the 180's as well. You will like them a lot. I just got in with hornaday so I will be picking up a lot of there stuff in a order pretty soon the turkey loads and critical denfense will be on the list as well.
-
I really liked the critical defense, very accurate and performed well, I tried some gold dots and they were junk with the water tests. Funny thing is about the critical defense is that they are the same bullets as the zmax but the zmax are about 2-3 dollars cheaper a box! :chuckle: I sure do like the looks of these pdx1's I'll do a water test on them tomorrow I'm just too damn curious! :chuckle:
-
The only thing that might be a little different is the jacket on the zmax. I thought I had read that some place. The gold dots are great hunting bullets in handguns. I have shot a few big game animals with them over the years. They are not the best choice for person defense in my mind.
-
Yeah they had great weight retention, but just didn't have that uniform expansion I was looking for. That's true I heard that about the jacket as well.
BTW I think I've got the wife a few steps closer to either a hog trip or a NZ trip! :IBCOOL:
-
:chuckle: I am hear for you when she gives you the nod

Not an expert but, I really like his videos and seems like info I can trust. These are the 9mm which is what I carry daily.
All of the other PDX1 video's he showed convinced me that, if I had another caliber, I'd use those but, this scared me a bit:
-
The videos don't want to load right now for me. I am no expert by any means but I have killed a lot of critters with handguns and do a lot of my own tests on handgun ammo. I would have no problem with using the gold dots in my handguns for carry ammo. In fact I use to a lot more when I packed a 357 for every day carry. When I switched to a 40 I tested a lot of ammo and really feel in love with the pdx loads.

I'd love to have the money to do my own testing but, I have to rely on youtube videos to help me make my decisions. I will say others on youtube have had advertised results with the PDX1 9mm and I've written the guy to see if he'll retest the 9mm PDX1 in his sim-gel to see if maybe he just got a bad bullet the first time around
