Pretty awesome. Will these be buck hunts?Could you share an approximate location of where these hunts will take place. Also how accessable will these areas be to the hunters. The reason I ask is that I would like to get my nephew signed up.But its really difficult for him to get around. He was shot during an attempted robbery a few years ago and is paralyzed from the chest down.He needs a lot of help to do any hunting at all.Its possible he may be able to go in a wheelchair. But he also may need to shoot from a vehicle. Is either scenario a possibility. He loves to hunt. And a few of us family members are able to get him out.But he is extremely restricted.WE would need to be able to help him.Sure would appreciate any feedback on this. Could be a hunt of a lifetime for him.
Thanks,
HntnFsh

Very cool. Keep us updated this fall on how it goes

More than likely these will be Whitetail Deer Doe hunts with the possibility of one of them to draw a special buck or doe option between the 4 people. If any of the hunters get drawn for a 2nd deer then they will be able to shoot a Mule Deer doe instead. The property is very accessible by vehicle. We will have a kawasaki mule available to get people out to the blinds. The property is in the Reardon-Davenport area. We have done disabled hunts for over 14yrs now and usually do it for 12 guys. We will have many people available to help him get to where he would be hunting. The other main sponsor in this grfarmingandhunting.com is a paraplegic himself and its his farm and understand what needs to be done. We will have the applications on the sites on March 18Th so look for them on one of three sites or stop by our booth at the Bighorn Show on March 17Th and 18Th 2012. Sites will be yjguideservice.com grfarmingandhunting.com wdfw.wa.gov/accessibility

Here is one of the winners Jeffrey Carlson at the range with me a couple weeks ago getting ready for hunting season. I spoke with him today to let him know and he was more than excited and very thankful to get drawn for this hunt. I myself am extremely excited for him. Thank you very much YJ Guide Service! This is awesome!!! How do I get more info on the hunt?
-
YJ Guide Service you are awesome, and so are you Mike for helping this young hunter out!

That's awesome you're doing this. Anyone can call the game department and ask if they know of any disabled hunters looking for help.
Last year a friend of mine (Sundance) took out a gentleman who was bound to a wheel chair and could only see up to 25 yards.
he was a basketball star from Elma Washington in the 80's sometime who loved to hunt. He called the game department asking for someone to take him out, and the game department gave me his number.
Sundance and I took him to our "spot" in Ellensburg and set him up in a home-made blind. He got to see 20 does and a nice big 7x6 bull elk that just tickled him pink. Matt (sundance) was actually the legal shooter for the guy and I was hiking/spotting looking for a legal buck. We almost got a shot at a small 3x3 right before dark on the last night of our 3 day hunt.
It was incredibly humbling and a rewarding experience. I would reccomend to everyone that they should volunteer and take out a disabled hunter atleast once before they die. It was tough moving him around considering he's crippled and severely handi-capped but it was a great time and I plan on doing it again.
-
This sure is a great thing you guys are doing! Jeffrey (Ryan) Carlson called me this evening to tell me how excited he is. He said he can't wait for October to come.....Here he is again practicing with my .243
-
Cant wait to meet the guys....Should be a good time like always when we do these hunts...
-
Well this sat is the big day for the 4 lucky winners of the fully guided disabled hunt. We have alot of sponsors fto thank for the event. Thanks Honeybucket, yokes, eggers meats, pacific ice, buck and affiliates insurance,ax tackle, natural gear camo, construction associates of spokane, just to name a few. We will post pics after the event happens. YJ Guide Service

Thats a pretty great thing you guys are doing....can't wait for pics and stories.
-
As a disabled hunter let me say that it's a really kool thing your doing. There's really not much opportunity for disabled people to hunt unless you can walk distances. I didn't get selected for a doe tag this year {not since 2008} so I guess I'll just stumble after birds around Twisp. even if I don't get a shot off it's great just being alive and outdoors.
-
Well I would just like to say that that was probley one of the best days we have had for a long time. Great people, conversation and hunting all in one day. Out of 5 hunters they got 2 doe and 1 buck. The dinner was fantastic and thanks to all the sponsor who made it possible. The guys looked great in their natural gear camo and Ax tackle gear. I will post a few pics from the hunt. Big mike took a nice 4x3 whitetail buck 30 minutes into the season at 75 yds, good job Mike. I think all the hunters had opportunities to take an animal or atleast seen alot of deer. Ryan just about got his doe but came up just a little short hopefully next time ryan. We had hunters the following day who took a 6x5 muley and a 4x4 whitetail. Theres still alot of bucks out there running around if anyone is interested in hunting late season muzzeloader...Make sure if you know someone who would like to put in for our free hunts for next year, have them checkout our website at www.yjguideservice.com (http://www.yjguideservice.com) I will post pics later today hopefully...If any of the hunters read this feel free to post pics please that you have...

Congrats to you all....
