Title: Lifesize Cougar finished
Post by: Elkstuffer on March 05, 2012, 07:43:37 PM: Just finished this cat over the weekend. She's a 110 lb female taken during the early archery season in the Dayton area. Someone here was inquiring about a relaxed jaw set. Here it is. Enjoy!

Yes, I like to make all of my own rocks. I make them right before I mount the animal so that you get a better more natural fit animal to base rather than base to animal.

How long does it take to make the rock?
How long for the mount? Maybe the same amount of time??? :dunno:

That rock took about 4 hrs start to finish. There are a bunch of different steps involved and drying times for some of them.
The cougar takes quite awhile longer. You have multiple test fits and altering the form. Rarely does a lifesize hide fit a form on the first try. Some can be altered on the first try and others take days of test fitting and altering. Then you have the sewing which on a cougar can take at least one whole day. Very satisfying when you are all done though.
