I figured lots of gun pics lately so I'd add one. Finally got my Encore put together the way I want it. Pretty fired up to take it to the range and send some rounds downrange. This setup has the .300 win mag barrel on it, Pro Hunter flextech thumbhole stock, Leupold Vari-xIII 4.5-14x50, Bellm TC's trigger kit, hammer spring, hammer extender, Burris Extreme Tactical rings on a Weaver rail(for now), 26" barrel with a Defensive Edge brake. It's heavier than I thought it would be, ended up about 9.2 pounds.

That is a sweet set up. Looks like a killin machine

Nice, bet it shoots great.

LOVE IT!!! Were did you get the barrel done? I was thinking I want one in a 300 RUM
-
Turned out nice. Time to send some lead downrange.

Coach-Bellm makes a DIY kit I bought. Easy.
Teach-A local guy I know did the barrel for me.
Thanks guys...I'll post a range report when I get out. Hoping for next weekend.

Great looking gun. Just a heads up didnt matter how much I cleaned my Encore, that stainless steel will rust and when it rusts it stains the metal. I broke mine down, sand blasted it, and had it coated. No more rust for me. Great shooting gun, shot both my Antelope this year with mine, one at 430 yards, and the other at 350 yards. Heres a pic of mine. I love these guns.

You'll probably hear it going off next weekend in Tri-Cities. I'll be in Pomeroy.

Huh...thanks for the tip. I've had this one for 3 years and not had any rust issues. I like the look of yours with the color added. Cool. What kind of stock is that?

Looks sweet, Josh.

I got the stock and forearm from High plains stocks .com. I have heard that only some of the barrels made for Encores in SS rust, good that you got one of the good ones. Have you noticed whether the muzzle brake helps with the recoil. I know mine in 270 kicks like a mule. Might end up putting a muzzle brake on mine. Happy trails.

Nice looking rifle!
My .300 WM Encore Pro Hunter is very accurate. In fact I have four rifle barrels and every one of them is a gem. I couldn't be any happier with my Encore set up. I also have a 20g barrel as well that is a good grouse getter.
I have rust issues in some of the barrels as well. The outsides are fine as I keep them oiled but I can always see a little rust in the rifling at the muzzle. Do you have this issue?
Anyway, I hope its a shooter. Interested to hear your thoughts on the muzzle brake.

So the deal with the brake...
It works really well for recoil. With the standard pistol grip stock on it, I never lose sight of the target due to recoil which is what I want. I'm sure this thing would kick like a mule, especially with the thumbhole. I have not fired it with the thumbhole so we shall see next weekend what it's like. It is the flextech pro hunter stock with the recoil absorption built in too. Also has a pad on it. It will probably feel like a .22LR when I shoot it now. It is really really loud which I don't like. It throws a lot of muzzle blast to the sides and I've gotten bitched at at the range before by other shooters under their breath. I wish I went with the VIAS brake instead of the D.E. brake but oh well, done is done. I do have the brake that was on it when I got the rifle from Hunt Boy a few years ago. It's the same diameter as the 300wm heavy barrel. If either of you guys want it, I'd unload it cheap....just pm me.
-
If you think the brake helps that much I'm all in. I know I could shoot my gun a whole lot better if I knew I wasn't getting a right hook every time i squeezed the trigger. I tell you what I absolutely love the thumb hole it just makes the gun feel so much more steady and controlled. Shoot me a PM on what you think you might want to unload that brake for.

pm sent.
The only way that my brake will work on your barrel is if your barrel is a heavy barrel.
It will be louder for sure.
I agree with the thumbhole. Feels very solid and stable. I also like the longer LOP.

I know its not as good as jackelopes encore porn but here is mine. I just did the Bellm DIY trigger job and mounted up my scope I just got back from Leupold on the .204. Im can't wait to sight it in tomorrow!
-
Sear before
-
Sear half way done
-
Sear just before the final polish. I got the trigger down to about two pounds!
-
Still good looking guns
-
What scopes do you have on those encore barrels?
-
Leupold 3-9x50 the .300 has the rifleman with the duplex reticle and the .204 has the vx1 with the LRD. I had bought the VX1 last year and couldn't get it sighted so i finally took it in to Leupold. I just drove to their shop out in beaverton and they shipped it back to me in three days. I should have dropped it off a long time ago. I can't wait to shoot it its been a long time.

Good stuff David, glad you went ahead with the trigger job.
Looks good.
