Title: Hunting in Foreign Countries. Need Help
Post by: BLKBEARKLR on March 09, 2012, 05:39:22 AM
Well long story short, As a lot of you know my wife is still in the Army, we were hoping to do the last two years and be done with it all and retire. But Uncle Sam had other ideas.

She is now getting stationed in Naples Italy. She will have to do 3 years there if she brings our daughter, but more than likely Sam will stay with me and she will only do two years over there and then back to the states to retire.

We have decided that I will stay here and keep plugging along with our original retirement plan to kind of stay on track.

So I am just looking for advice on some of the countries over there and what you can hunt. I know Africa is close by so still going to go forward with my African hunt for next year, but anything else from over there would be nice.

I know some of the European countries have some great chamois and ibex hunting.  I'd definitely look into those.  They are some of the only foreign animals that I am really interested in hunting in.

:yeah:  You can also go up to Germany and hunt pigs and stags.

Ahhhh.. Naples the armpit of the earth.

Kick myself in the butt everytime I think about buying Barrettas and didn't.  You used to be able to buy them direct from the factory through the exchange at AFSOUTH.  Could have gotten a nice O/U shotgun for a steal but I didn't  :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:.   I was 19 and had more important things to spend my money on like beer and chasing girls.

Don't remember much hunting in Italy, however in Germany you can chase chamois, roe deer and boars.  Scotland has stags and roe deer.   I also remember that hunting is very regulated and very limited to certain people.  Not sure there's much "non-resident" hunting.

Addicted may be able to shed some light on German hunting.

I would be looking into Austria and Hungary!!!! Red Stag, Fallow Deer, Ibex, Mouflon, Boar....... Both countries are close borders to Italy and appear to have some relatively decent pricing. Get ahold of Austrian Hunter or Addicted, they seem to have it going on over there and should be able to give you some tips.

Maybe take a look at Romania.  It is one of the larger, and still very rural, countries over there.

I did quite a bit of hunting and fishing when I worked in Russia.   was the 1990's.

Wolf, boar, moose, deer. Good bear hunting there too.

Good Ibex in Kyrgistan.

Ibex, stag, boar, shammy are the ones that come to my mind. There is plenty of places and outfitters to hunt with over there. My wife want to go over there. She knows my rule: If I am flying somethings going to be dying :chuckle: I HATE TO FLY!!! I have to have a big reward for me if I am going to do so :chuckle: Luchy for me she loves to hunt as well.
