Took my wifes bear rug in to the taxi last august. Gotta wait till august/sept of this year to get it back. Id like to see some of your guys bear rugs and how good they look on the wall.
-
I have had some made into rugs and here is one with a great niece on it. I would show the one with my wife on it but she would kill me! :chuckle:
-
Your wife on it would help me have a better understanding on big the bears were. :chuckle:
-
Not a very good pic of the bear rug. He was 8-1/2 yrs old and 225lbs.
-
I like your picture woodman....
-
Great pictures guys. I never did get my wifes weighed. dragging it down to the road by my self and trying to load it into the truck I would guess it was probably around 200 pounds maybe a little bit more. It was a boar and had a really nice coat and a very nice tan snout.
-
I'd love to but some chickenshat stole it off my wall. 7'2" nose to tail and about 450 pounds spring weight (Ontario). :bash:
-
Here is a bunch of links to pictures of Bear Rugs that I have done. I thought it would make things easier for everyone if I posted links to pictures instead of a bunch of pictures. That way for those with slower computers it wouldn't be a download nightmare.
I've got a couple more Bear Rugs finnish. Havn't getten a chance to take pictures yet. I'll post those when I do.

I'll have to do some digging, luckily I had a photo of it on the wall with a 6' level leaning next to it for the insurance company. I'll have to see if I can find the original photo from when I was like 18 or 20....

Come on willy that guy aint nothing like the milk drinker you killed with me about 14 years ago on the coast, lets see some pictures that that little feller. You still got that 5 point shed I walked right by?
-
So here's the only photo I have of mine that got stolen. 7'2" nose to tail. 1982 Ontario, CA That's a 6' orange level next to it.
-
nice one loki ......
-
DANG LOKI!!! That has got to be the widest bear I have ever laid eyes on :yike: Easy way to fill a wall when you shoot them that big :chuckle:
-
Had trouble taking pic's hand to lay on the floor and the flash spots. Well here is two of the three bear rug's and a bonus bobcat rug the cat weighed 35lbs and was shot in ferry county in "04". My buddy mounted them for me.
-
Good sized cat, was it a east side cat or a different state cat?

He was a hog, by measuring his girth and using a pig formula that our guide/friend had a lot of success with, we calculated that he weighed 450. This was also a spring bear. Imagine the weight if it was fall. Took five of us all we could do to drag him (on a tarp) to the truck and get him in it! His skull was just short for the books though, shot at five yards with the 30-06.
Lots of nice bears on you guys' walls.
-
That is really cool! I only have a half life size mount right now. It was my first bear and turned out good. He was just a small guy at like 130-140 but we called him in and he was my first bear. Michelle has my dandy spring bear. I did not want more taxi bills. My friend that helped me get him out laughed at me. I grabbed him 3 or 4 times to just take his head. I just could not do it. I HAVE NEVER! seen a coat like on my spring bear this last year. It is so beatiful an long! SO I bit the bullet and she is doing a rug for me. I probably won't kill one bigger and he made all time sci books.
-
Congrats on your bear Carp, look forward to seeing the pics. My first rug got eaten by bugs in someone's garage who had borrowed it from my ex for their wall, and they never put it up. :bash:
Still have the skull from the big guy though.
-
It really suprises me with some bears. By the body weight you think they would have a huge Mellon on them! Then they just turn out to be small. Then small bears turn out to have a big Mellon on them! The first bear I shot was like only 130-140lbs live weight, but he had a heck of a good Mellon on him for only being 3 years old! There is no doubt in my mind he would have hit the 19" mark when he was good and mature.
-
Another cat rug, we had fun that day with our great niece.
-
Thats one of the nicest bear rugs I have seen biggerhammer, from trophy quality to hair quality to mount. Seriously a beautiful rug.
-
Before and after.
-
Here is the smallest of the bunch so far...
-
Cool color Ice, looks like her dye job is growing out. :chuckle:
-
Yeah, I was pretty excited to find this bear. It looked HUUUUUUUGGGGEEEEE in my spotter! :bash:
I do love the color.....

Thank you, up close and personal. Maybe 20 yards with a .375 H&H.
-
20 yards! Wow.
-
20 yards! Wow.
Yep, I was standing with my GPS in both hands and my rifle on my shoulder and here he came like a ghost, didn't make a sound for being as big as he was. Dropped the GPS and went for the rifle, sight picture, BANG! That fast.. Knocked him down, slipped on the pine needles and almost slid right into him steep down hill, the second shot was point blank, 4ft off the end of the barrel and he was pissed the first shot had broke his back. He wanted a piece of me but just couldn't maneuver to do it. It was a real adrenaline rush, the type where you almost feel sick when you come down. Only experienced that feeling when I was in the military.

A pampers moment.

So, first off, the rug in the pic is not mine. Just an opportunity to take a silly photo.
Second, that bear was so small I did not take any pics. You asked if you could and I embarrassingly said "sure". If you got it...hold it.
Yes, I still have that shed. It is in two pieces as I cut part of it for a couple of calls.
-
Here's mine
11 year old boar, 72" nose to tail. When skull dried missed B & C by 3/16"
Washington Bear out of Glacier Peak. Quite the story on this one.
300 yards at dead run, one shot, with 2 witness's to back up story.
Shooting Savage 110 30.06 Left Handed of course.

-
Thats cool. Never seen one like that.

It was a Boar! It measured 5'10" as a rug.
-
Thats about what I figgured. I'd take a 5' Color Phase over a 7' Black.
-
Austrian... That rug is awesome!!
