Anyone going to Missouri to deer hunt this year? I am going the first 2 weeks or so of Nov. I like bow hunting the week before rifle opens. The deer are in the pre-rut and really respond well to rattling and grunting. I can get 4 deer tags and a turkey tag for $45.

:yike: Are you a resident? My wife has family back there and i've always wanted to bow hunt out there..
-
Yup, I'll be rifle hunting my place in the NE part of the state.

I got family in MS, is the hunting worth it. They dont seem to think so :dunno:

Nope, if you are a disabled vet from any state, you can hunt Missouri at resident prices. Nice thing is I can carry my VA disability letter and use that as a small game lic, don't even need to buy a small game lic. I can buy as many doe tags as I want for $7.....as many as I want. :) I LOVE bowhunting whitetails in the hardwoods of the Ozarks. Nothing like it for me.

When are you headed down? Flying or driving?

Almost as cheap as WA (not!)

I would love that! So how much would it cost if you didn't get the disabled price? Any idea?
-
The archery tag is for 2 deer and 2 turkeys and is $225. Each additional doe tag you buy is $25.00
You can also purchase a firearms deer tag for $225 and each additional doe tags are also $25 each.
Non-resident youth deer tags, drum rollllllll $8.50 for the initial tag and $3.50 for each additional doe tag!!!!!
-
Wow, that is still great pricing, especially for the youth tags. But even at $25 a tag, that's a bargain. Too bad it's so far and the cost of fuel would more than make up for the cheap tags. It would be great to take my kids back there someday, while they're still kids. Is there much public land and if so, is it worth hunting?
-
You can do a round trip flight for $230 right now. LOTS of public land and the hunting is outstanding. Plus back there it is VERY easy to gain access to private property.

We're planing on going back I do miss hunting back home. Last time I was home my wife, our kids and I put 9 deer in the freezer. We're are u planing on hunting I grew up 30 miles east of lake of the ozarks

:) I spent alot of time just outside of Camdenton. I'll be hunting mostly in NE MO and some in the very Southern part not too far from the Arkansas border.

HUGE bucks in Northern MO (every bit as big as Kansas and Iowa), LOTS of deer, not sure what it is they don't like but for whitetails it's hard to beat and in the Ozarks fantastic scenery in Oct and Nov. In 2011 I went home and hunted for 10 days and saw close to 180 deer, killed 3, one with the bow and 2 with a rifle. Probably the best squirrel hunting for fox and grey squirrels in the US.
-
yup.... cant beat those prices. i'll be hunting SE part of the state after deer season here. flying into St. Louise not a bad flight.

I miss squirrel hunting. If I draw tag I will probably hunt KS this year. They have a good walk-in hunting area program that provides good opportunities from what I hear.

Hunted across the border of NE in S Iowa for deer. saw some monsters in that area. Great genetics.
Sounds like you'll have a good time
