I love and miss bowhunting.  I really dont know where I fit in your roll.  By the time I was old enough to hunt my dad was tired of rifle hunting and we started bowhunting.  So I ONLY bowhunted from the time I started till about 4 years ago (about 22 years).  Then my son started hunting and couldn't pull the minimum bow weight so I started him out with a rifle.  But it was costing to much money and time off work to take him out in rifle season and then me go during archery season.  So I switched to rifle with him about 4 years ago and now last year my wife wanted to start hunting so all 3 of us rifle hunted last year and looks like we will do that again this year.

I have archery hunted for the last 20 years. That being said, if my father wanted to start hunting again, I would buy a rifle tag for at least one species so I could hunt with him again.

I'm a hunter a heart, but bow hunting is my passion.
With that said, I buy a mod. Tag every year and hubt with the family also.
The feeling of stalking your game with a bow and the vision of the game in my crosshairs is awsome.

I am a "sometimes" bowhunter.

Coming from NH where you are allowed to hunt with rifle/muzzle/archery every year, I did it all.  I really enjoyed all of them, and I think it made me a better hunter having all of those experiences.

I kind of feel bad for the youth and those just starting out hunting in Washington.  Having to choose one or the other really holds them back from the full experience.

I would alternate from year to year when living in WA, but it sucks doing it that way.  I can say though that in my "short time" in WA, I managed to hunt using all three methods.   I just hated having to choose and being limited to one method all year.

Bow hunting is my passion but with that said im not opossed to hunting with other weapons. If I go out of state i will hunt modern untill I know the area and the animal habits.

I've never owned a modern deer or elk tag in my life.

I have been bowhunting for a looong time and have zero interest in hunting with a rifle anymore.  As has been said before in one form or another, I will pick up a shotgun, pistol or muzzleloader to hunt with my daughter but that is about it.  I hunted with a rifle for deer a few years ago just after my back surgery and did bag a decent buck but found it about as rewarding and challenging as bagging that ugly chick at the bar at 2 am.  Sure it got the job done but the feeling afterwards just aint right.

Only archery for elk but will hunt deer with rifle with my son. Due to school he has not been able to get away for archery elk.

I'm a sometimes.  After spending time in other states, it was possible to do all kinds of hunting--archery/muzzy/modern, even hounds for deer!, hogs, turkeys you could use whatever you wanted, multiple bucks, etc.  It really let you get out and play with the animals, it was like all the licenses had multi-season tags and cost 1/10th the price.  So it wasn't like missing out on a huge chunk of a season by switching over to a different weapon.  Now, I like to hunt certain areas and during cooler/cold weather--so I mostly get muzzy tags.  But when I do get a multi-season tag, I get to use the bow again.

I hunt with it all most every year. Trad bow, modern bow, muzzleloader, handgun and rifle.

I hunt yotes and birds with a shotgun.

I am 90% only bow only during archery season. But if they would let me buy a muzzle loader tag and hunt with my bow like they do for modern I would probably do that some years.

I have hunted archery since i was 10 but the last 3 years I've been getting tired of all the people I have been muzzeloading in wa. and rifle in my out of state hunts. However archery is my passion I love getting close and getting within their comfort bubble.

Thats funny PB  :chuckle: :chuckle:
I wish that i had started bow hunting a long time ago. Now I only do it when I get the multi tag. I would probably bow hunt more if the unit I hunt had a late hunt. 448 just has the early hunt.

Chose #2 I guess. From now on, I hunt deer with a rifle, and elk only with a bow. Elk with a rifle is just too easy; deer with a bow is too hard..  :twocents:

I don't have much rifle hunting experience but I might this year if I get drawn for the multi season tag.

pretty much bow only for big game in washington.  Out of state or country and I'll try the first half of the hunt with bow, then if no luck, I'll go to the rifle.  Can't afford to spend money on a hunt and have tag soup.

I switch back and forth between muzzy and archery all the time, usually deer one and elk the other. Just seems like muzzy season hits the elk rut better. this year im archery elk unless I draw multi and not sure on deer yet.

I haven't archery hunted for 10 years, but this year I'm doing archery for deer, and muzzleloader for elk. Next year will probably be different. I almost always change from year to year. If I had to guess, I'd say next year I will probably do modern firearm for deer and archery for elk. Or hopefully will have the multi-season for at least one next year.
