Anyone every crafted their own?  I have some blanks that I might try with.  Still debating though.

I made one years ago for a ruger 10/22. Not much help other then that.

You might try gun broker for some ideas. There is a few stock makers that sell wood stocks on there that have some killer designs and stocks.

Depending on what tools you have to work with, you might be interested in Richard Franklin's dvd on stock making, or do a search on les brooks.....both are retired smother that will show you some great tricks. I just bought a stock duplicator for such a task, but I have not tried it out just yet.

THanks for the input guys.  If a do decide to make one, it will be pretty much all done with hand tools.  Will use drum and disc sander and band saw.  But the shape will mostly come together via hand rasps and files.  I did this once in High school back when it was ok to make crossbows in wood shop.  It went ok then but today I have quite a bit more experience in woodworking than I did.

For now, I have some ideas to make the stock model 700 work for me and the only thing it'll cost is a little labor.  I'm kind of a DIY guy and have a hard time paying $200-??? for a stock.  In fact I even have a hard time having a gunsmith do anything if I can do it myself.  Wish I had the money for some new equipment :dunno:
