Hello all! Ive never hunted turkey, so I was wondering. Where should I be looking for them!!? Ill be hunting around ellensburg probably in the naneum/quilomene early on, then manastash once the elk closure is lifted. Should I look for them in sunny south facing grassy valleys, sparse forest, forest with meadows? I am not looking for specific spots, just what kind of vegetation I should start looking for them. Any ideas?
Also, are they more often in relatively flat terrain, or steeper?
It seams Ive always seen them in sparse forest, or open meadows next to forest areas. All areas relatively flat.
Any other tips appreciated.

I hunt the same area and see them in all different spots. the birds get so much pressure from us that it seems like you will see them in all terrains. Look for tracks and use a locater call on ridges. Also you wont see birds out in open fields as they usally stick to the woods and game trails to travel.
Good luck!
