I was just wondering if there was any members on here that might be members and going to the banquets this weekend. I always enjoy meeting other members so I figured I would ask.
Cheers...

Would be cool to meet you guy if you go  There in hundreds of items for auction and silent auction and raffle! I am really looking forward to it.
-
I left for Portland very early Thursday morning to set up a booth so I didn't see your post until now that I'm back home. It was some banquet, wasn't it? Did you win anything?
-
Dang! Wish I would have know you were going to be there! Had a blast. Won a few small things. I was at the loud table in the back both nights that the auctioneer kept yelling at :chuckle: Plus we bought about 80% of the stuff on Friday night and about 30% of the stuff Saturday night :chuckle: Boy those guys were a hoot! I ended up with 2 bows. I bought one from south cox from stalker bows, a long bow I had a eye on for awhile now! He had not sold any bows I made him a offer and he could not turn it down. He was buying a ton of that nice wood there to build bows with. He took off running for the silent auction to bid more on the big chunk of mertle wood after I bought my bow. He had more cash to spend :chuckle:
I also ended up with what was by far the best buy of the auction. I bought that green 3 piece bow that sold in the first few item on Friday. It was a hell of a event!!!! Had a great time and made some friends.
What booth were you? I talked to pretty much everyone there that had one.
-
I will work on resizing some pics and posting them up.
Here is my Rebel longbow by South Cox of Stalker bows.
Handle grey actionwood
Limbs stained curly maple
Asiatic buffalo horn tips
47# @ 28" I will shoot this bow at around 29" so it should hit right around 50lbs.

I got to meet the Wensels brothers for the first time. They were very nice and very easy to talk to.
I really wish I could have remembered to have them signed a couple of arrow shafts to put into a collection.
A lot of great bow makers as well.
Here is a few of the first pictures.
Friday dinner hall.
A blacktail bow that was amazing! One of the nicest bows I have ever had in my hands! I threw some good money at it but could not add it to the collection :'(
Some really cool wood art. The big pic is of fred and some of his animals. I want one of these!!!! I hope to do one with all my animals from 2011 that made books.
Some displays.

Pbs stone work
Another display
-
A set of amazing recurves! The green one in the top left is the other bow I bought.
A great batch of long bows!
-
Here is some of the custom arrows and single arrows turned in for the contests.
The primitive arrow winners arrrow sold for 500.00. One of my clients that has been to new zealand with me bought it.
Also some great selfbows
-
I would love to go to one of those some day! Just a traditional archery rendezvous would be cool actually. I've been making my own arrows and bows and never gotten to meet another bow maker, yet alone see custom made recurves and longbows. Except one amazing one that I nearly traded my jeep for I liked it so much. haha

Yep all trad all the time :chuckle:
The next one is in 2 years and it is in Cincinnati
-

We spoke to one another now and then, Matt. I'm Dale, from Renton, WA. When someone jokingly asked, "What the heck is there at Goldendale?", I am the guy who spouted out, "Mulies and blacktails." And you then replied "Yeah!", and said that most of the deer around there were mixed breed. Someone also asked how to hunt north of that town without wandering onto the reservation and you told of some of the ridge roads meandering back and forth across the boundary and those spots being tricky to keep track of where you are exactly. Remember?
That was the first time we spoke and then we kept crossing paths the whole weekend because I had volunteered to help the PBS so at times they had me running every which way. Of course neither of us had a clue that this site was a commonality.
Heck of a good weekend...classy bunch of bowhunters, them PBS'ers.
-
Yeah I remember LOL! That is funny. No idea you were a member! Pretty cool.
-
You had no idea the guy there was a hunting-washington.com member?
...or that I, here, am a PBS member?
;)
-
BOTH :chuckle:
-
LOL. Yep, gotta be careful who ya associate with, huh?!
-
LOL I think we were in good company
-
Sorry could not make it. looking your pics almost relieved I did because I would have bought quite a few bows and arrows there.
This Blacktail bows sure are nice looking.
I met The Wensels years ago hunting in Iowa. great down to earth and funny guys.
hope to make the next banquet
thanks for sharing and posting pics.
PBS is a really good org supporting the traditions of archery
-
Yeah for sure! Glad to share the pics and have people enjoy them.
I would have felt bad buying that blacktail. It was so flashy I don't know if I could have ever hunted with it :chuckle: I still took it up to 850.00 :chuckle: No chance at it, It sold for 1300 or 1350 :'( I think I ended up bidding on 5 of the bows and only got one of them.
I have nothing but good things to say about the group.
-
Norm does them all shiny like that just for show. If you were to buy one of his Blacktail bows for hunting he could put a top coat of low sheen finish on it to keep it from glinting in the sun.
-
:chuckle: I was thinking if I bought it I would have to take some steel wool to it :yike: :chuckle:
I have a wicked bow being built by a friend right now. I cant wait :IBCOOL:
