I know myself and Rufous and have drawn, any others on here get drawn for Dayton, how about Blue Creek? Both great areas with excellent opportunity for those willing to work for it.
Anyway, love to hear from you, have a great day.
-
Got drawn for Wenaha. Hope the snow starrs melting but with this mornings dumping be anyones guess.
-
I know of one member that got drawn for dayton ;)
-
I know one who wasn't :bash:
-
y'all go find that cinnamon bear i shot at in the Blue Creek unit! damn thing was full-on maroon! :yike: if only i'd held a bit more steady...
out of 4 bears, i've only shot one black one. the others have been brown/blonde. all in the Blue Creek unit. shoot, i've only SEEN 3 "black" bears!
-
i got a dayton tag :tung: not looking forward to competing against Rufous :o JK
-
And then there is the guy, who while hunting cougars with Rufous mentioned that he wasn't sure if he was gonna put in for the spring bear tag this yr. Rufous replied that it didn't matter now as the deadline was yesterday.
-
One more week to wait. Can hardly do it.
-
Did some scouting this last weekend but didn't see anything, did manage to do shoot a nice Tom on opening morning though.
-
Can't wait to see what you come up with. I didn't even put in this year, I knew my spring would be chewed up with out of town/state shooting matches with the rifle team.
Good luck, I'll be living vicariously through you...

Watched a big boar tonight for an hour or so. I think he may be pushing 400lbs. Couldn't get closer then 390 yards and just wasn't comfortable with that long of a shot, hopefully next trip I can close the difference
-
Was up off S. Touchet Rd yesterday only one pile of scat. Hopefully they start moving soon :dunno:
-
Whats the snow like past Bluewood?

What snow?
-
So your saying you can drive up to the wilderness boundr? Junction 46 and 64 rds.
-
I'm not sure of that but I can tell you I spent almost all of last week in the area and there isn't really any snow. Its just very wet and muddy.
-
Have a Wenaha tag and want to get out there soon.
-
I spend a majority of my time in Wenaha. If you want I will pm you some details on some fresh bear sign I have found. Just let me know
-
That would be sweet. No some but a little help would be nice.
-
Good luck guys, this one is in Dayton.
-
Yes, that is the one I almost got last night

Man I hope you can put the drop on that bruiser. Good luck, Rufous.

it was 4ft deep at entrance to the ski resort

Snow needs to melt!

Phool,
Not like you to take blurry, out-of-focus pics (that's more my department ;) ). Were you running away, or up a tree...? :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
Phool didn't take that pic, that is on a Dayton locals property I think, that picture has been going around for a week or so. Here is the paw print that goes with it, I have it on camera for an hour on Sunday night but was just out of range.

I'd sure like to see you get him. If you don't, you know he'll be up there eating elk calves like popcorn here in another week or two...

I still really think that the spring bear hunt over here in the Blues should run May 1 to June 15. Much of the unit is normally inaccessible due to snow until sometime in May so we end up bunched up hunting the few decent areas we can access (as well as wasting time checking areas we hope might be accessible and then getting stuck in the snow). It pisses me off that Fish and Game is so out of touch with the reality of spring bear hunting over here. This is supposed to be a prime hunt so why not make it even more prime by extending the hunt into mid June? The bear hunting only gets better later in May and into June. What do you all think? I think we should really put some pressure on Fish and Game. They run the Wenaha hunt into mid June and I see no reason not to do the same with the other units in the Blues.
-
I don't understand why they all are not open till the 15th of June either, but I only apply for one area anyway so it doesn't affect me. But I do agree with you.
-
Wenaha is!
-
I totally agree, May 1 - June 15th. Very tough going and you lose two weeks, plus since I have a young family the last great chance is Memorial day weekend which is always camping, I can't overlook that. So I have to have one by the 21st of May when I go back to work that Monday or I am out of luck. We shall see what happens. Hopefully Rufous, myself or someone gets one this weekend in Dayton to get the thing kick started.

its a friends pic. ;)

Put some miles on today, saw a ton of elk but no bear sign, unfortunately I have a real sick little one at home so had to leave before the prime evening hours which is one I saw the big one last weekend. Hopefully someone is seeing some movement but I think overall it is still a bit early
-
Oh yeah, cut my first set of wolf tracks for the year also
