I'm mostly curious how the FOBS shoot. I'm going to start out with them on 5 arrows and test them against 5 of the Blazers that came fletched. My buddy swears by them. I'll let you guys know probably next week (and hopefully get some pictures up.
I'll be out at CRB probably on Monday and/or Tuesday next week testing them out on the flat range if you want to come see for yourself.

There is a reason there is only a small following. They are cool and do shoot but a lot of guys that shoot them are target shooters and guys hunting from stands and such. Not many brush hunters using them :twocents: They may work for you and best of luck with them. They were for sure not right for me.

i shot them and liked them just fine! but they don't fit aluminum arrows, so feathers it is! were i to go back to carbons (shudder), i'd not think twice about using FOBS. good product! :tup:

I've hunted with FOB's since they first came out (maybe 6 or 7 years) and have not been at all disappointed. I've taken many game animals in that time, and the FOB is always laying right there close after a pass through. I initially started using them for the advantages with the wind, but I stuck with them because they simply worked as intended. If they had a longbow/cedar arrow version, then I'd still be shooting them.

I'm going to do plenty of tests before I take them in the woods, but I know plenty of guys who put on more miles in the woods then probably most guys even dream about, and they haven't had any problems with them. But for $20.00, I'm excited to test em out.
One of those guys is posting in this thread. If he says they work, I'd take that to the bank.

Ive have crawled through sage brush with fobs and the only time they come off is when they go flying through a set of lungs!!
That's what I mean. I had to apply force well beyond what I would encounter in the field. Also, my wife was not happy I killed her potato peeler ha.

Like you have said "unless you are not paying attention" The last thing I am thinking about is weather or not my flecthings are still on my arrow after crawling around threw stuff on a stalk or just out hunting. So if I can eliminate one more thing that requires me to pay attention to it before the shot. I tend to not use it.
I am sure you will like them. They do shoot very well.

They do shoot well. As I have said they were not right for me. Can they pop off? yes. Is there a small chance of it happening? yes. Will it happen easy? no. I just like to eliminate any thing that could go wrong from my setups. That is why I have choose not to use them. I spend plenty of time testing all the gear before I get a idea about them. I don't base my feelings about a product on what others say. I like to prove the info myself. Like I said before there is a reason there is only a very very small % of people using them. That is a fact. They have been around for awhile now with only a small following. Once again they do shoot well, they are just not worth the extra small chance in my mind. I have probably put 1000 shots down range with them threw about 6 different bows. So I have tested them with more setups themalmost anyone out there. That happens when at any given time you have between 15-25 bows like I do. Plus test as many products as I do. They are my ideas and everyone is free to have there own. Am I right in the fact that they can pop off by accident in the field? YES. That is what they are designed to do. Do they fall off or come off easy? no. Still a chance of it happening no matter what anyone thinks. Based on the design of the product.

I actually wasn't talking about your post in particular. It's a common complaint I've seen. I have no opinion on then the fact tatty my initial assessmendoesn't appear to be an issue. I'm excited to shoot!

If I just did a lot of hunting in the open or from a stand. I would probably be shooting them full time. I just don't want the risk in the stuff I go threw. Also a fletching cover, like I use protects them very well. A stick would have to go up inside of it to pop them free. Not a high chance at all. I also noticed some were tighter then others with different nocks. I tested them on a few different brands on arrows and some did come off with less pressure then others.
I do like them! They are cool and do shoot well. Make sure your rest is tuned up right. I had contact with one of my drop aways on my xforce when testing them. The really fast bows can beat a drop away rest that it not tuned right. I tested the fobs on a quad and a trophy taker drop away.
