Title: State is sure making some money
Post by: boneaddict on March 26, 2012, 10:27:30 AM
The number of deer permits has increased this year from 4000 to 8500 and elk permits from 850 to 1000, so your chances of winning are even greater.

Thats an increase in revenue by 720,000 for deer and 24,000 for elk at 160 bucks a pop.  It might be higher this year.  Haven't checked that out yet.

I wonder how this will skew the harvest %.

I didn't realize how many more tags they were going to issue.   WOWZERS

I thought it was $182.

And, it doesn't go to the general fund. Unless the governor finds a way to steal it.

I saw a rumor on another thread that bows will be allowed during ML this year. I didn't see this in the proposed revisions. Does anyone have accurate info about this?

Thanks Bobcat. Would've been nice to use during ML if I get a Multi-season tag.

Did they sell out all the Multiseason tags last year? I think they are going to TRY and bring in more $$$. Not so sure that that will work out for them... I know i will be triming way back this year. I may just get a bear tag and duck hunt...

Be dumb like me.  Buy the tag then shoot your deer on day one of early archery.    :bdid:

i am gonna run barebones this year. i put in for MS permit but if im drawn im just gonna let it go back to the pool and pocket a bonus pt. they need the extra dough to manage the wolves, i.e. pay salaries for the wolf monitors who will watch them eat the deer and elk they are selling the tags to the suckers for. HAHAHAHAHA  :bash:

I'm taking my kids to Montana, for the same $180 I can buy 2 WT doe tags and the odds of filling those two are substantially higher than filling a tag here.

You lose your point when you are drawn.

I think if they had any brains at all, they would jsut make it a tag option and forego the drawings.(they could still put a max number on them, first come first serve)  They'd save a buttload that way and probably sell more of them. :dunno:

Nah. You lose your pt when you BUY the permit. If you dont pick it up it goes to the next person drawn.

I will probably get drawn for both deer and elk again.  That cost me a lot of money the last time.

Neither of your statements are correct. Just like with any special permit, your points go to zero when you are successful in drawing that permit. If you choose not to purchase the tag, that is your loss, and you also still lose your points.

Also, they no longer do multiple drawings. The first time is the one and only. All who are drawn have till the end of August to buy the tag.

From the WDFW site:

Quote
8.  What if I am drawn, but decide not to purchase the permit?
Successful applicants will be allowed to purchase the permit at any time prior to September 1st. The multiple-season permit is non-refundable and non-transferable.

9.  Do I earn points for the multiple-season permit application if I do not draw a permit?
An applicant will retain a point each time he/she does not draw a permit.

Id bet alot of those that get drawn are antis etc., so a substantial part of the revenue is not recognized because of that....they will be workin over time putting in for permits this year.....bet all the wolfies are doing the same thing.
