Just curious ladies and gents...
This year, I will more than likely hold out for a specific (what I think is a big) bear...which I will more than likely never see again...but I still have hope...
How bout you?
-
Seriosuly, I have killed like 9 of them and already have a trophy one, and a couple color phase ones, and they sort of stink in regards to the meat department when I have three elk tags this year........
on the other hand it would be kind of cool to shoot something and get the season going right.......
Then again, it would be more fun to take soem Timber quality pics of a few without haveing to get all sweaty and stung by bees and bloody
Lookin for a big one.

I like bear meat, and as I already have a couple large rugs and a couple tanned hides around the house, I'll shoot the first legal bear I see, now that doesn't mean I'm gonna dump some 4 1/2 foot bear, but if it will go 5 1/2', its gonna hit the ground. Will sell the hide.
-
First legal bear.
-
I haven’t decided yet. I don’t want a rug or a mount. I don’t really like bear meat. But I’d like to hunt something. I doubt if I’ll shoot anything but I’m taking a rifle and going looking.
-
I am holdong for a somewhat bigger bear than my previous, but my dad will dump the first legal bear. I may too when the time comes if it is in bow range.
Would like a nice shoulder/pedestal mount down to compliment the shoulder mount I already have.
-
Anything over 150 lbs I'll shoot. So I am waiting for a medium bear.
-
I've passed up bear for the last 5 seasons waiting for the *right* one.
I've seen a few that would have easily gone 350-400lbs, so we're not just talking small bears....but because I don't like bear meat much, and taxidermy costs are not something I want to pay multiple times, I'm holding out for that ONE NICE BEAR!
Big is good, but bigger is better...and it must be a color phase bear, or have a large white splash on it's chest.
The bottom line?
I enjoy the experience more than the kill. Pictures are good enough for me (most of the time.) But one day, great grandad blackbear will make a mistake and show himself--and I'll be there. ;)
Besides, I have to come up with something that won't look like a dwarf compared to my father's "trophy" Alaska blackie. :o
-
What about the option that should read, "Deer hunting is too easy, let's go bear hunting!"
With two tags I am not picky and will shoot the first 100 lber I see. I don't use the hides and the younger ones eat better. :chuckle:
-
I'm going for a good one for my first, don't have a rug yet so that is a motivator, over the years I've passed on some waiting for that color phase one, but no more I'm getting impatient to get that rug, although I'm not going to dump a cub or a yearling.

If the milk is dry on the lips it is getting shot.

With your luck lately, you should tag out early! Just park the Rav4 in the same spot as before and wait patiently. Might help to spray your tires with some Meguires tire shine. It smells like Cherries!

I almost dumped out an old coke i had in the car the other day when I was waiting for the big guy to come back (not trying to bait..just trying to empty it so I can toss it on the floor of the rig)...but then,..I figured...just my luck, some warden would be watching..so I dumped it when I got back home. ;)

LOL ...yes. Luckily I didn't vote on the "two tags" option. :IBCOOL:
-
First legal bear is getting shot. I'll save the second tag for a bigger bear. I've never been to much of a trophy hunter more of a meat hunter, but if a trophy walks out on front of me you bet I'll shoot it.
-
First legal bear will go to my son. He's never killed a bear so he's looking forward to his first. Anbody seen how the berries are doing up high? I'll wait for a bigger one.
-
It's got to be at least 300 lbs+ and a nice coat for me to launch an arrow at it. I dont like the meat (donate it) and only want to shoot one for a nice mount. You guys can have the dinks.
-
Ok got a plan and it will work. Look at the graff everyone that is waiting on a big one can take someone that is willing to shot a small one with them :tung:
I am waiting for a big ole bear! 10 (37%)
First legal blackie, its down! 8 (29.6%)

Salmon berries are in (at least around upper snoqualmie)...huckles are coming in..depending..and some wild (small vine like) black berries....
My little bro has seen bear sign with berries in it the last several days in the hills outside of Mt Vernon, Burlington...
I dont think the normal black berries are quite in yet though...
-
first legal bear, especially since it will be my first!
-
:yeah:
-
You can get two of them, no need to be picky on the first. Voted accordingly.
-
Medium for me :dunno:
-
id sure like to get a big ole bear but i dont think i could pass up a legal bear.
-
Never shot a bear, so first legal is going down. :)
-
The first bear that isn't black....
-
It better be big and brown or I won't shoot.

Believe it or not, I've never taken a bear. Seen lots of them over the course of my hunting years and some big-uns too, but generally they were on distant hillsides while I was Bow hunting elk. I've walked up on 3 small ones before and I think they scared me as much as I scared them but this year I plan on taking one, anyone know a honey hole they want to share :chuckle:.
-
question in the poll: First legal Blacky...... what would not be a Legal Blacky?
Second tags for Trophy... many of you will be lucky to see a bear at all, take the shot if you get one or you will be saying the same thing next year..... :chuckle:
-
First legal Blacky...... what would not be a Legal Blacky?
Thats what I was wondering
-
Momma with cubs is a no no (which was what I was referring to). Although technically, the regs read, "Hunters are urged not to shoot a sow with cub"...I guess technically it isnt illegal, but who would want to do that on purpose? :hunt2:
-
passed on a sow w/cubs last Sun. Moral issues involved for me. Ill take first legal then a bruin
-
u all know my stance...mmmmm mmmmmm do I love bear meat!
I like my women at around 105 lbs...sounds ok for bears too...lol i prefer my women with slightly less body hair! the claws are about the same...lol :P
-
