At least thats what WDFW thinks. Based upon their figures, Fishermen in the lower Columbia River have harvested most of all the fish that have attempted to run through the ladders at the dam.
According to WDFW the anglers projected catch so far is 1,796. Only 48 Chinook have passed by the dam.
Those Ladies and Gentlemen are some damn good numbers ..... if they were true.
Who's BS'ing who? Either WDFW can't count, the dam can't count, or we (fishermen) are liars.....
I just cant see that we've done that well so far.

With the thousands of boats on the river it is possible. Are those hard numbers or a ratio based on checked fish vs. boat estimates. I have two buddies both with over 10 fish so far this season. Possible!

Right on! Good to know fishing has been red hot! I cant wait for them to show up in the upper system! O wait paper fish cant swim! :bash:

Maybe the nets have taken the rest? :dunno:

wrong side of the dam, but I'm sure they grabbed the other 48 though :bash:

They netted the lower river Tuesday. The number I saw was 2600ish in the nets. They will be back in on next tuesday also. I don't doubt the sport catch numbers, that average is still one fish for like 15 rods? Remember every boat launch is full every weekend since Feb. This is my worst season, usually I have my freezer full. This year I am still looking for my first. River conditions are stalling the run. It would not surprise me to see the bulk show up latter then last year.

Where do you find the numbers in the nets?

They were announced at the compact meeting.

if they are catching them low on the columbia they havent gone through any dams to be counted :twocents:

The theory is the high cold water is holding them in the lower river.
