I have been very interested in teaching myself how to shoot a more traditional bow. I was hoping I could get some help as to where A good place is for me to go and find some long or recurve bows.

Tradgang is a great place with a lot of bows in the classifieds on there. Do not over bow yourself a lot of guys get way to heavy of bow when they start playing with trad gear. Most people should really start with a 45# or so bow to build the basics of good trad shooting. There is a few shops around that are trad only with a lot of used and new bows in stock.

where do you live ?
There will be several bows for sale at "The Rock Shoot" in Stratford here soon...

Also most of us have more then a few bows. If you are close to one of us you could probably test some bows out. I have bows from 48-60#'s longbow and recurves you could play with. Lot's of styles as well to see what you like.

I recently bought a Martin dream catcher recurve and I instantly fell in love with traditional. I can't get enough of it and can't wait to hunt with it in 2013. Lots of great info on tradgang as well.

Welcome to the best of the rest of the days of your hunting life. I wish I had some great advice, but have to admit I stumbled upon a great bowyer and I was set for life. there are quite a few threads on here with some good information.

Tradgang has lots of great info, as does Tradtalk. If you can make it over to the Rock shoot in Moses Lake this coming weekend, there will be lots of bows there you can try and lots for sale.

I found a longbow on craigslist. You might start looking there for something close to home to see/feel before you pull the trigger.

Check the classifieds on Bowsite.com's Leatherwall (it's the Traditional part). I see your from G.H., come out to Puyallup's Paul Bunyon Shoot'n range on 5/25-5/28, Mountain Man Rendezvous, couple guys sell bows, Duane Spangler makes and sells bows CHEAP! Good bows! I bought one two years ago and he GAVE my wife one! I make my own now. Also, Rudderbows.com, Ellensburg, Wa, BUY LOCAL!!! Good luck!

If you want to go into an all-traditional shop the closest is in Hood River, OR. It is called Raptor Archery. They have a web site if you want to get contact information.
Otherwise attending that Mountain Man show and looking up Duane is a good idea.
There is a small traditional section at Cabela's but you should call ahead and find out when their trad pro is working and go when you can talk to him.
TBW's Rendezvous is the first weekend in August; there will be vendors there with new and used bows.
