Good luck to all as well! As I am stuck slaving away at work until next wed... :bash: :'( :chuckle:

Good luck everybody. We should have started a gentleman's bet thread on who would tag out first who would get the biggest and who would get the smallest.
-
If I can get my fence done tommorow, Ill be heading out in the afternoon, with or without my boss's consent............ :chuckle:

Rain is the best time to hunt them IMO :) Good luck everyone!!

I'm thinking about heading out tomorrow afternoon. I have never actually focused on bear, but I will be walking into an area I have been told there are bear and Cougar. Any tips....should I just walk as far as I can, call a bit....? Thanks.
-
Went this morning behind the house into the coastal woods by my house.. No bears, but quite a few silly does.. We'll see what happens later tonight.
-
Didn't make it out this morning. Probably head up this evening.
-
Use fawn distress calls, watch the wind and set up where you can see your flanks, stay with each set up for about 30-50 minutes (depending on terrain, size of tract, etc). They will be hitting the Oregon Grape, skunk cabbage roots, old stumps, rock fields, etc. so set up within earshot of these typical feed areas...Good Luck!

Went out this morning and saw about 12 blacktail.....3 bucks and 2 does with spots....
Not a bear in sight though.......maybe tomorrow?
-
Went out this morning, saw two bucks down low, probably legals, to dark to tell. Called three hour long set ups, usually get some birds or a doe to come in but nothing this morning. The breeze was changing directions continually and rustling the dry sun flower leaves so it kept me alert. A small bear has moved in the last couple days, not a shooter but fun to play with. Probably the same one I scouted out last week end on the other side of the ridge. It was a very enjoyable morning, great excuse to be in the woods.

Sounds like a great morning idabooner! I'm head out this weekend..good luck all!

Smart move billy....got drenched today...and worse yet..no bears! ;)

I didn't make it out this morning. 1 part lazy 2 parts didn't have all my stuff together. By 3pm when I was getting ready to leave to go up in to CF my husband decides he wants to go.
Since he has never been hunting befor I decided to call this evening a wash and head up to SW to get him a few things. So we'll be heading out in the morning to do some hunting.
I think it will turn into more a scouting mission though and glassing. I have 1 spot that I'd like to try calling in but he's giving me the impression he doesn't feel comfortable with me setting up and calling. I don't think he likes the idea of me calling in something that can eat us, LOL. No big deal. Their is a lot of different stuff up in CF that I can show him.

I don't know where I saw on Huntwa that someone had said they like to hunt bears in the rain but I have never seen one in the rain! I'll wait until it's done raining and then go get one!
-
That was Machias. I sure dont prefer to hunt them in the rain, but Ive seen penty while it was raining.
-
Gonna hit it hard tomorrow. Got my eyes on a nice bruin. Hes kinda blond, I'm not sure if hes just muddy or what only seen him at 200yards as of yet. To long of a shot for me I like em closer than that.
Good luck to all

Rain doesn't bother me either but if the animals don't move well in the rain why go out? Other than theirs that chance one bear might not have gotten the memo. :chuckle:
-
rain helps with sent and noise.... :twocents:

Looking forward to a report. I went out this morning and scared some elk and deer. The bears probably are not hitting up the area I was at because the huckleberries are not ripe yet. 2 more weeks I would guess on those berries. They are green already.... I cruised around and set up a very short call session. Nothing but angry squirrels. Of course I was just checking on berries and elk more than anything :dunno:

Don't take him and don't tell him where you are hunting. :chuckle:
Assert your dominance over the bears and your husband.. :IBCOOL:
-
Scott says that will be fine. He doesn't need to know exactly where I hunt. He also says it's a good thing I have your phone number for when I need help packing out a bear! :IBCOOL:
