Well the loud mouth eastern took a ride home in the back of the truck. It happened little different than i thought it would but it all worked out. Almost had a hunter screw it up but we were patient and it worked out, that happens some times on public land. Bird was 21 lbs. 10" beard 1" spurs. Story and pics later need a nap :)

Ok since turkey man is dragging his bag on wrighting up the story I guess I will have to do it. We found this bird saterday morning he gobbled probally 50 times we just backed out and left him alone. So opening day we met at the local park and ride and headed up the hill. We parked at a gate and started walking in. We got in and set up at around 5:15 am about 150 yards from where he was roosted the day before. At 5:30 we heard our first gobble of the 2012 turkey season the only problem is it was a long ways away. Then about 5:45 we heard our bird gobble he wasnt in the same tree as the morning before, but just a little farther out. At 6:00 we heard a hen yelp only about 100 yards away from us in the direction we had came from. I asked turkey man if that was a turkey or a hunter he said he didnt know yet. About 5 min later we heard it again same place and same call. Turkey man leaned over to me and said hunter. :bash: We sat there until 8:00 and listened to the hunter behind us call about every 15 min. Finally we didnt hear him any more and Turkey man started to call. We hadnt heard a gobble since the birds flew out of the tree around 6:30. I was getting a little discouraged. My patients arnt very good. But before we were done with the first set of yelps a tom cut us off with a gobble. Turkey man told me to get ready that the bird was only 150 yards away. A little more calling and my turkey came into view. He was about 70 yards out strutting and walking right at us. He kind of hung up out there around 60 yards and I was getting nervous. A few soft purs from the slate call in turkeymans hand and he came running in. He got to about 30 yards and turkeyman told me to kill him when I can and that was all she wrote. Well that is how it happened. Fun hunt and thanks again Turkeyman now lets go get one for you tommarow.
