Post by: huntergreg on April 15, 2012, 04:31:50 PM
Think it would be any good fishing above the dam this coming weekend? I want to get out and try for salmon but dont know if it is worth the trip or not. What are your thoughts??     :dunno:

Huntbear is correct.  Wait until it hits 1000 per day

Not worth the gas money right now. Give it a week or 2 and it will get good.

I would say go for it, me, my dad, and brother went to John Day Dam last thursday and hooked two springers, but only landed 1 and brought home about 8 pound steelhead. I looked at the count for the dam that day and only a few went over. Not just lucky we always catch a few at john day before we head down to strawberry island.

I am going to go for it. I don't have anything to do anyhow. I will be leaving Friday after work from Ellensburg and staying until Sunday. The fish counts should just increase everyday anyway.
