She has -0- interest in hunting or killing anything, but she does love to shoot.

The last few years I have volunteered as an archery instructor at a coed youth summer camp (8-12 yo). Some of the most fun I have had as an archer. Lots of the campers are inner city kids that have very little exposure to outdoor activities. They flock to the range and beg to skip the other activities so they can keep shooting. Most of them will just have a great memory of shooting at camp and leave with a positive perception of archery, but some may purse the activity for years to come. Several returning campers have sought me out to enthusiastically tell me they got a bow for xmas or b-day, and how much they have been practicing. It has been a very rewarding experience for the kids and for me.
There is another kids movie coming out this summer with archery as a central theme that will keep their intrest in archery. Take the opportunity to be an ambassador for the sport by getting a kid on the range! Take a kid or two with you to the WSB rendezvous July 13-15 in Cle Elum, they will love it.

This extra attention that archery has been getting should be viewed as a catalyst to introduce lots of new kids to the sport. I would suggest every archer have a youth bow so that when a kid in your life raises the questions about archery, you can introduce them to the sport. These kids are the future of the sport and they need responsible guidance from people who care about the safety, ethics, and practice.The responsibility lies on all of us to introduce new folks, children, Men and Women to Archery.

After that movie came out I recently bought 2 bows...1 for my wife and another for my 11 yr old son. Now they are completely addicted!
All of a sudden Archery is "cool" :IBCOOL:
