In reading though the "Other Big Game" category I was amazed by the number of moose tags on this site. For those of us playing at home, this is what I have found so far as to who has what in the moose tag category:

BellBoy08 - Huckleberry - Archery
Blessed - 49 deg N
Bullquest - Selkirk
burnhamrandr - Selkirk
Huntnphool - 49 deg N - Archery with rifle back-up
mbutler - 49 deg N
mingo - Three Forks
MuleDeerCrazy - RAFFLE TAG
PA Ben- 49 deg N
pumpkin (Finnman's wife) - Huckleberry - rifle
Ridgeratt - Hangman
Ridgerunner - Hangman - Rifle
robodad's hunting partner- Hangman B
Roger - Selkirk
Rufous and brother - Huckleberry
I put this together because to me the OIL tags (especially moose) are the ultimate. Let me know if there are others or if I have something wrong.
Other OIL tags:
Timbers friend - Chowder Ridge Goat
andrew_12guage's dad - Umtanum sheep
bearmartin's dad - Cleman Mtn Sheep
Alpinegus - goat
-
True story. Check out our membership bump in the month of August too.......
-
That is really cool. Lots of folks from here with the "big" one.
-
Thats a lot of Moose Tags going to members of this site. I was expecting 1 maybe 2 members to get Moose Tags and maybe 1 Sheep and 1 Goat. Thats pretty awsome. Congrats to those who drew! :IBCOOL:
-
Is their any sheep or goat permit holders on the site??????
-
What weapon of choice are you lucky moose hunters going to use??????

I didn't see any direct members but I think Bearmartin's dad has a sheep tag and Timber's friend has the Chowder Ridge Goat.
-
Let's hope the trend continues next year for those of us that didn't draw this year. That is an incredible number from this site alone. Congrats guys and gals.

I went up for some scouting this weekend. I saw 4 moose. One was a young cow, probably about 1 year old. Saw her on Saturday. Then today I saw a decent bull (hard to know how much more antler he will grow in the next month or so) and then later a cow and baby calf. It was my first time up there and was a good trip. I learned a bunch of the roads and found out where some of the clear cuts were. I got photos of the yearling cow and the bull. As close as they were it has me thinking that I might be able to take a moose with my Ruger 45 Colt revolver. If not I will use my 300 Win Mag. Brian.
-
Thanks for the KU-DO's. It's been 10 years, and boy is this site fun. This hole experience is a blast. Still can't believe I drew. Only a hunter knows how special this is. My wife is so cool about it to. I'm going to try my bow first, but I well be packing a 7mm-Rem. Mag. for just in case. :dunno:
-
my dad has the umptanum sheep tag so i cant wait for sept 15th ill be back in washington taggin along and trying to get the old man on a big'n
-
I'm just waiting for the raffle drawing so you can add my name to the list.... :chuckle:

Do you have a camera? We are relying on you to bring back the pics and a story. Thanks to your post, I'm changing the title of this thread.
-
My dad has one of the Selkirk Moose tags
-
Howdy folks,
This is my first post. I have been doing some research on the Selkirk unit, as I was "extremely" lucky enough to draw this year. I was steered toward this site by a few people and I like what I see. If anyone is interested in what I have learned so far let me know.
Kile
-
welcome aboard kile...keep us posted on the progress of your hunt and don't be a stranger.
-

if you need a ride in a driftboat, let me know :chuckle:
-
Ill probably just be using my dads camera but there will definately be pics. Have a friend of the family who has a drift boat so we may try that route one day, dad is really liking the umptanum creek area though from the sounds of things
-
Welcome aboard kile. To quote what someone said to me, "In joy the ride"
-

Archery for me, with a rifle close at hand just in case ;)

Kile
Welcome Bullquest,
Take lots of pics and tell us a great story when you bag your trophy. Keep us informed of your scouting progress too.
-
Rifle for me.
-
BullQuest/Kile, welcome to this site. There are a great bunch of folks on here. Best of luck on your moose hunt. I hope you take a grand daddy! Brian.
-
Rifle for the wifey!
I may get her to post a story on here after her hunt!
I registered her on as "pumpkin", she said her dad called her that a lot as a kid.
-
I'm hoping someone from this site draws the raffle tags too, last year 300 kept me on the edge of my seat, both at home and in the truck out scouting. With all these OIL tags it should make for a fun winter of reading dreaming and drooling
-
I am thinking the same way as you Phool. I am looking forward to the stroies. Hopefully, I can be able to help some of them if they need.
-
I have 10 raffle tickets for Moose. I'm sure that's nothing compared to some people, but I would be stoked if I got one of them.
-
I need to start doing the raffle tag dance. Maybe it will bring good luck
-
doin my best to pull a raffle tag, but i cant make any guarantees
-
We are up to NINE moose tags now, that's awesome!!!

I am going total archery and my buddy with the cow tag the same. so the plan is.... archery first and in November switching to handguns and rifles as a last resort with the bows in hand if we get lucky enough to have an opprotunity to use them first.
-
Bellboy....I would take a muzzloader just in case there is a range issue. I have heard to many horror stories of the state record moose standing out of bow range only to disappear with no shot. :twocents: The trophy is in the eye of the beholder...That is what I would do however. Have fun.

Make that 14 moose tags now!!!

We are due for a lot of moose hunting stories starting real soon, we have (16) of them on here now.

-
Just bought a pocket note book to carry for my moose hunt, to keep a record of my day by day hunt. I hope to pass on so so bulls to get the big one  With the month of October off to hunt, I'll need a note book to keep track of the days. :chuckle: Hope to see some of you 49 tag holder's up there. Anybody want to meet up PM me with your contact numbers. ;)
-
I should say there are 14 that we know about, some of you have been doing a good job of keeping a secret up until now. :nono:
-
I have not been keeping secrets but my hunting partner drew a cow moose tag and he isn't on the list, it's a hangman B I think !!! so
15 that we know about !!!
-
Awesome, does he have a name on here or should I just call him robodad's hunting partner?
-

That will have to do, He is a firm believer that all the folks on these forums are liars, I try like hell to convince him that huntwa is different but he spent some time at MM and won't even open this site up on his computer, infact he gives me crap for being here so I guess I will have to fill you in on all the details :dunno: We will be heading to Mica Peak next Tuesday to fill up his tag so I'll let you know how it goes !!!

We stretch the truth a little but we do it with class. :chuckle:
All my hunting buddies who are not on here are deathly afraid of computers. :yike:
-
What is "spent some time at MM"?
-
Monster Muleys, the internet version of the Enquirer for hunters.
-
What is "spent some time at MM"?
I read that to mean "wasted time at Monster Muleys". :chuckle:

Yeah BTKR "Wasted" is exactly what I meant !! :chuckle:
-
Thought I would add to the mix. Have a friend who drew partner tags for Moose in Selkirk AND Bull Elk in Toutle- with his son! WOW! :yike: What are the odds on that?
-
Best of luck to all of you tomorrow, I only wish I had one of those tags. Bring back some great stories and pics.

According to my research, the names in blue have completed their mission and the ones in red are still looking. Let me know if I need to make some changes.

I look at it as motivation, kind of like the tag gumbo pic I put in your thread. :chuckle:

A little birdy told me Ridgeratt was done...

Hmmmm!!! Someone owes us a moose hunting story.
-
I think he is elk hunting now, you may have to wait awhile for a story from him.
-
:chuckle: nice list :chuckle:
-
Lat tomorrow or Sunday I'll post my pict.s. :o
-
Hey bullquest, I have a selkirk tag. I will be going back in a couple weeks. Any info
will be great.
-
Cisco, if you haven't already, you should send him a PM, they tend to reach out and grab someone's attention the best. Now I have to add you to the list. :chuckle:
-
Hey Cisco,
I will send you a PM.
Bullquest
-
cisco,
PM sent!
-
Some more success has taken place. The list is looking great especially since there is a whole month remaining in the season.

-
Need to get this one up to the top, so plool can be added
-
Here is where we are at now from my research at the end of the season (except MuleDeerCrazy), I haven't read anything about the other three.

Anyone hear how MuleDeerCrazys hunt is going? See any big ones yet? Does the season go tell Dec 31st?
-
If they are dropping their horns he better get over there quick.
-
Time to hit the hills for deer pics. MDC, if you need a hand just send me a PM, I will be glad to go check out the spots I know.
-
I hope MDC has completed his mission, with Huntnphools report it sounds like he may have to shoot a big bull and find it's sheds too, not any easy task. Other than the month of Sept, between he and his wife, they were pretty much booked with hunting trips until Dec.
-
Back when we had late buck open on Thanksgiving day a friend of mine shot a wt buck, nice buck, it was in the 0's temp wise and snow. He grabbed the horns to move it and they can off in his hands. :bash:
-
Add one more for 49 degrees north, just looked and found out I was drawn for moose.
-
Better add your name to the current list. I think there is a moose one on here. Not nearly as many tags this year but a few.
-
It would be interesting to see how many points our winners had before drawing.
-
This is the OIL 08 tag accounting thread. We need an 09 OIL accounting thread. I was thinking of it but have been too busy killing lingcod lately to do it... Anyone else?
