nothen ment by this Poll .....just curious since we have talked about ethics so much I want to know how most of the birds are killed by our members on this site...... :dunno: :chuckle:
-
You didn't vote yet.
-
Yeah I did .... or are you being a smart --- :chuckle: :dunno: ALL I am sorry ....I shot all my birds off the roost
-
I guess you did. When I posted there was only one vote and it wasn't yours.
:chuckle:
-
I prefer to sneak onto private land and call easy birds.
It's way more ethical than ambushing a wary bird in it's roost on public land.
I kid...... Really.
But between my son and I we only have 1 turkey apiece. I've never hunted them til the last 4 years. So, I'm not real confident in my turkey callin skillz yet.
-
you do not have one for my category..
Those Damn pesky Gobblers have eluded me..

;)
I drove my truck up a tree on private land I had no permission to be on, used my spotlights for illumination, and shot them as I drove by ..... new traditional turkey hunting at its best ...
:chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
(Ya, I know, I'ma a :sas: )

I want to turkey hunt, but in order to do it I need to buy a few things. First I will buy a truck no less than one ton and it has to have all the fancy flare and eye candy. Get it jacked to the moon, and put some mossy oak camo on the seat covers. I really want to blend in with my truck seats as I drive up and down private roads while at the same time drinking some beer. Then When I find where they are roosting at, I will drive my rig as close to the roost as possible and hope that when I shoot them from the comfort of my truck they will fall into the bed of my truck. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Ok Turkey Dancer, not to one-up-ya. But I found a nest, and shot em in the egg. After I drove up the roost tree, on private land, with an expired license. Spotted the nest, drove back down and shot the egg. Nice light bird to carry out. All ready scrambled too! Oh yea, I took it to a certified scale and weighed him in at .64 ounces. Great bird!!!!! :IBCOOL:
-
Yummy ... now just need a road kill possum to go with .....
-
I thought of that, but last time I picked up a possum I wasnt sure how to skin it, so I ate it with the hair still on. Sat next to my cat all night, and had a lovely evening of hacking hair balls! :yike:
-
I patterned my bird where he flys off the roost on private property and crosses the road where I am waiting in my truck where i drive up to him while laying on the box call out the window. When he hits the yellow center line I let him have it, also out the window. If there is a car coming I just leave him there. This is all only if I cant get a shot outta the roost with my .22 :chuckle:

I guess this isn't too serious of a poll. :dunno: I read the "out of a tree" one as from a tree stand and you are "missing stalked one and/or ambushed it."
For the goofy ones you missed "snuck up on another hunter's set, while shooting his decoy I accidentally hit the real tom he was calling in".
-
No.... not serious at all :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
:yeah:
I didn't vote because I couldn't find one that said "Always shoot them as they return to roost while I'm sipping suds and watching the Mariners while sitting on my buddies porch".
-
In all seriousness usually bait them in, but not in this state of course. They are usually just a target of opportunity to be shot when the deer hunting is slow. Stupid, filthy birds and they aren’t that good eating.

hey I wanna hunt with you that sounds like delightful method.....
I already said I am gonna shoot at it in its roost, miss, have the bird fly down from its roost... try to attack me at which point I whack it with the buttstock of my youth model single shot 410 that I believe is the ideal turkey gun :) and render it unconscious if not dead.....

-
I shoot 'em in the egg when they don't run near as fast. Didn't see that one on the poll.

-
This is the type that I usually hunt, there not very wary and you can harvest them by almost any means. :chuckle:
-

I've heard golf clubs, a seven iron specifically, work real well on these.
