Title: Anybody ever play Arhery Golf ???
Post by: STIKNSTRINGBOW on April 30, 2012, 01:38:16 AM
I have not been talking about it much, but due to an extended period of unemployment, I decided to get a job in the restaurant industry.
Any job is a good job...
Because pay is crap when you work in the "service industry"
You usually end up working with either **** or ***** because that is who usually is 47 years old and working for close to minimum wage.
Although , if you are good at your job, you can make bank.
($$$$) to those in the know  8)
WELL, unfortunately I live in Lewis County, second highest (according to NPR) in the state for unemployment (13.9%) second only to Ferry County..
But who can Trust the government... :liar:
ANYHOW>>>
After working at O'Blarney's in Centralia
since they opened their new establishment, I was not getting enough hours...
I then got a job at Spiffy's (exit 68) a little further south.  :puke:
 :yike:
I will not go into that, but , go past there to McDonald's, or Carl's JR.  :twocents:
......
I am now working at both places because, again.. Any job is a good job..
I continued to work both places, but looking for more...
I then got hired at "The Riverside Golf Course" in Chehalis , ( :cue:!!)
3 JOBS !! finnaly getting some hours !!!  :IBCOOL:
Food is awesome (not just becase I am am kook !)
But, it is a golf course...
I do not play golf...
 :dunno:
If I arranged an Archery Golf Tournament, would anybody be interested ?
Basic rules...
4 arrows,
4 players in a group
take a shot from "tee"
shoot a tennis ball off of a plastic cup at hole
lowest score wins

different categories, but same target.
"blanket shoot" for prizes, or "pool" (entry fee)
course only gets normal rate for round of golf for players, payed by entrants.
 :dunno:
Anybody think they could make it ?

It would be fun. Would the golf course go for it?

i would be concerned with the bow being used. you would have to have everyone be required to have the same bow and it would have to be a super low poundage kids type bow so you were lobbing arrows all the way. otherwise if you over shot the arrow could skip ten miles bounce off trees and what not.

could be fun just put judo tips on but agreed if you shot it with a kids bow and i use my drenalin i think that would be a unfair advantage as i could be on almost any green in one shot but then again lobbing them in there could get interesting would probley work better on a par three course or just set up a course out in the woods somewhere

exactly! im sure i could do a par 5 in 2 shots with my hunting bow. that would be no fun. but if your bow only shot 100 yards it would make it better and more competitive.

I've played it once but there are people in the state who have played a lot. They never did it on a groomed golf course though. Up above the Wenas was the place, I think. I don't know if it was public or private land. But I think something may have shut it down within the past couple of years or so. You might check the WSAA shoot card to see if it is still listed; it used to be on there.

As for equipment, it isn't about the bow weight. Any weight of bow can be used, but they might have restricted it to bending bows; I don't know because I didn't shoot a sanctioned golf shoot. It's all about the arrows. Flight arrows for very long "drives", heavy arrows with five inch fletch for long approach shots, flu-flus for shorter approaches and "putts".

If you build it they will come...

I've played a lot of archery golf.  We always do it in the mountains, and build our own courses.  Hands down the best way to prepare for the upcoming archery season. :twocents:

Interesting thread. We had a game of archery golf a few weeks ago. Used a 28# recurve and flu-flu arrows. Everyone shot the same bow and arrows. We put a ring (hole) at random distances and the closest to it got a point. 5 points if you made it in. We had to shoot over, under and around obstacles. It was as said previously, more like lawn darts with a bow. The flu-flu limits your distance with that 28# bow to ~ 80 yds.

That sounds like a fun idea!  Can't make it on that side of the state, but it gives me some ideas to try on this side!
