One of my earliest and most vivid memories is my mom shooting a buck. The deer was running dead away from her down a skid road, about 75 yards away.... she threw up her Remington 760 in .300 Savage and broke its neck. One shot, dead right there deer....
She always said that the reason I am so fanatical about the outdoors and hunting is because she went hunting while pregnant with me.

We found her Honorable Discharge papers from the Marines in 1945. She will get full Military Honors at her burial on Friday.
