Get the Buckmark, Rugers are junk.
Ruger all the way. Except for the 22/45. They're cheap.

I have a 22/45 (older without replaceable grips), and it is accurate and enjoyable, but it is kind of a pain to reassemble after takedown. I want to get a Buckmark to compare the two.

I have the Ruger's and love them. Don't like taking them appart, but they are tack drivers.
Taking the Ruger apart is easy, it's the back togather part thats a P.I.T.A. but it gets easier the more you do it. Try reassembling a Colt Woodsman.
As far as the 2 the O.P. is asking about. They're both good, I like the looks and feel of my MK II, but I shooting the Buckmark better. Why does Ruger put fixed sights on the tapered barrel models. :bash: The Browning Is a Sweet Gun, Mines Crazy accurate......... it's just ugly and heavy. :twocents:

Realistically, you don't have to tear one down very often. Some brake cleaner or such and a hose down takes care of a lot of crap.
How many rounds are you putting through yours between tear-downs? Mine needs to be stripped and cleaned every 500 rounds minimum, it usually starts having failures after about 300 and a lot after 400. The magazines are about the same, once they get a little grit in them they start hanging up.

I love mine tearing it apart to clean is not bad putting it back together can be a bitch (usually involves a whole lot of cussing followed by *censored* I forget that step every time :bash: :chuckle:) but mine likes being a dirty gun so I don't do it very often. I have had 2 or 3 hangups the last 3 boxes (525 rounds per federal blue box) I put through it and the one was a shooter who had a loose grip once I helped her fix that issue she did fine...
it also makes a great prop for my photography and always gets attention in my images.
actually those buckmarks look sweet as well so I say buy both :tup:

I hose mine down with carb of brake cleaner every 500-1000 rounds. I haven't HAD to physically tear them down in a long time.

What makes a 22/45 cheap? The upper and internals are identical to the MK3. Just the lower is polymer. Since the grip angle is identical to the 1911 it is usually more comfortable and if you get the RP model you can use factory 1911 grips with nothing more than a tiny shaving off the corner.

I didn't like the way the 22 45 felt in my hands it felt kinda flimsy for lack of a better term, I also have very long fingers on a small frame hand being a girl and all, and find the 45's I have shot in 1911 were extremely uncomfortable to shoot. Buy what fits and you feel most comfortable with I like the weight and design on my markIII ....also like most sigs because they fit in my hand well.
I also want to say I don't neglect my pistol just find running a few patches through it is about all the cleaning it needs :dunno: I do like to tear it down and make all the stainless all clean and shiney but that has little to do with actual function :chuckle:

Buckmark has grip angle and mag release more like a 1911 which is what I shoot for other sports, so it's a better trainer.
Rugers are crude...that's why there are so many upgrades for them.
Buckmark trigger is much better than Ruger.
I have all 3 so I feel justified in saying this.

I do agree the Buckmark is a bit more refined, but you make it sound like the Ruger has serious casting issues. It doesn't, far from it.
