well just got back this morning from my first bear trip of the year. me and my buddy went to a decent place i know and we did pretty good. hiked in at 1:30 in the morning and got up hunting right at day break. didnt see any, tried calling with no luck but we were seeing lots of sign. we came back to another spot in the evening and spotted this guy bout 500yrds away. so off we went and put the stock on him and got within 250yrds and he was turing to go into the trees. that was as close as we're guna get i figured so we both got down and took the shot. missed him the first shot but nailed him on the second. turned out to be a boar, i reckon around 250lbs. not sure though maybe more maybe less but he was heavy as hell, his stomache showed he'd been eating pretty good. enjoy the pics, the pic of me eatin the liver is a old hunting tradition. i also took a few secery shots, i like taking those panorama shots

Great photos and good looking bear. He has some nice character to him.
I agree with the others, you need a new tradition! :puke:
What do you do when you shoot a coyote? :dunno:
-
Nice bear and cool photos!
Aren't bears the highest carriers of trichinosis? Not sure if that effects the liver but I don't think I'd be eating any part of any bear uncooked.
-
Looks like that bear has seen his day. How far did you have to pack him out? Enjoy the worms. :bdid:
-
he was about 4 1/2 miles in, it was far enough to kill us considering how steep the country around there can be. after that one we quite hunting, even if we saw another we wouldnt of shot it :chuckle:
-
It's funny how many of those "hunting traditions" are usually told by men over 40 to a younger generation, yet you never see them partaking in those traditions. :chuckle:
That is quite a pack, glad the back held up.

Hey, you can't hunt up there, that's my bear area, as a matter of fact that 1st pic can't be but a few hundred yds from where I shot my 1st bear several years ago.
Beautiful country ain't it...run into any anti's up there...I was hiking out of there with a bear on my back and got my butt reamed by a couple bunny huggin women. They obviously didn't understand the law, they thought since it was a wilderness area hunting was not allowed.
Congrats even if it is in one of my favorite spots...

How were the flys up there?
-
man coonhound first its my elk hunting spot now my bear spot :chuckle:, rough country up there huh
Joevon, flys were awful
-
figured they would be...i was up there a year ago to the day damn near and ended up leaving a day early because the flies were pissing me off so bad.
-
I shot my first bear within a couple hundred yards of there too! I hate the flies. Funny how they will disappear with a little wind! Nice bear, JoeVon spotted a nice color phase there. Hell of a hike though!
