Myself and 2 buddies drew the same tag. Pretty exciting!!

I had that tag last year, called in 17 bulls, one was a 350+ that I still have nightmares about. I did extensive scouting and can help if you like.

We've hunted the Rimrock area for the last 6 or 7 years and taken about 6 elk, mostly cows and a couple of spikes. Last year we had three cow tags and none of the guys with tags saw cows! We totally blanked! (Only 30 cows were taken out of 150 permits issued according to the '06 stats!) So, this year we are splitting up and a couple guys are hunting St. Helens. 4 of us put in for Cowiche, bull and cow. One guy drew a cow tag...no bull tags! @%#$&.
I haven't hunted Cowiche yet and plan to go scout pretty soon. Can anybody give me a few tips on where to start on that area? (Rifle season)
Thanks!

Have hunted Cowiche rifle season several years. Usually between Reynolds Creek and south towards the end of the road. Last time I was there the road ended at a private gate. People there were not too friendly either. Got a decent rag horn 3 x 5.
Tasted just fine.

I live in the Cowiche unit just outside of Tieton. Give me a call sometime and I'll give you some places to start scouting.
