Title: HELP Buying Multi Season Tag before Applying for Other Weapons *Not Available*
Post by: luvmystang67 on May 17, 2012, 09:34:53 AM
So I am trying to put in my special permits for deer today, I cannot buy the multiseason deer, it doesnt show up as available to me, even though I was drawn.  I cannot put in for my special permits that are multiple weapon because I haven't bought the $180 tag yet.  Tried to buy it, it doesn't show up.

HOW DO I BUY THIS THING?!? :bash:

Someone help please?

Have you talked with D-Rock? I understand you guys may team up for increased chances. Was he able to buy his already? We chatted about when we were out not catching lingcod but can't remember the details.

I would suggest going in to a local license dealer and have them call WDFW and do the swap right there. You turn in your other deer tag for the multi tag.

If you picked up your regular deer tag then you need to turn it back in so they can issue you the multi season tag. its kind of a pain in the butt. the dealer has to call the game dept or the software vendor
to turn in your deer tag. least thats what they had to do to me last year.

I think he is saying that it does not show up as an option to purchase it on the website correct?

If this is the case I would try checking the box that says deer license and when it asks if you want to get the general tag, say no and see if the multi season tag pops up.

If that doesnt work I would cal WDFW

I know what hes saying cause i had the problem last year. it doesnt even show up to purchase until you turn in your deer tag if he originally picked it up.

So thats pretty much what everyone with a multi -season draw has to do since you had to own a tag to apply for multi season didn't you?  Then do i have to rebuy my existing tag AND the $180 tag on top of it?  I don t see why i cant just do that now if that's the case.

Wow what a pain, fail WDFW.

And no, it doesn't show up at all, no deer option period.

Was there a way to submit multiseason without first buying the deer tag?

Just for future reference you do not have to buy a deer tag to put in for multi season tags

No you dont have to rebuy your deer tag as you probably already bought a deer/elk/bear/cougar combo or something similar. You just need to turn the deer tag back in and pay 180 for the multi season tag and your all set. And no you didnt
have to have a deer/elk tag to apply for the multi season permit.

Somebody correct me if im wrong but Multiseason tags are first come first serve basis.  Even if you draw, once the quta tags are sold its gone no matter if you drew or not.   :dunno:

i dont think its that way anymore as you have till Sept 1st to purchase them.  from WDFW webpage

9. What if I am drawn, but decide not to purchase the permit?
Successful applicants will be allowed to purchase the permit at any time prior to September 1st. The multiple-season permit is non-refundable and non-transferable.

Okay, for anyone in this situation trying to figure it out on your own during regular business hours...

Call (360) 902-9200 WDFW

If you don't want to listen to all the menus hit "3" and then "3" again.

You will be put on hold, explain your situation, they will void your deer tag, you have to mail it into Olympia at:

600 Capitol Way N.
Olympia, WA 98501

Then you will be cleared to go and purchase a multiseason permit online if that is your chosen method.

This is what I do. Hopefully it will help some guys get a feel for how to work the process.

#1: Set up a Draw/license calender on your phone, or in Outlook on you computer, or on a paper calender in your gun room. If you apply in multiple states you probably have this already.

Important dates for Washington:
Jan 2 = Multi-season and Spring bear
March 31 = New licence year
April 18 = Special draw apps
Mid June= Draw results get posted
Mid July = Raffle purchase deadline (its a moving target)

#2: Follow the calender.
Jan 2:  Go buy your Multi-season app. Get on line and apply. If you want to put in for spring bear buy your big game combo. Do not pick up your deer or elk tags. Do not choose your Deer or elk weapon choices. Get on line and apply for spring bear. When you apply record or print out your confirmations. Keep them in your records.

Late March: Buy all your combos if you didnt already. Do not pick up your Deer or Elk tags. Do not choose your Deer or Elk weapon choices.

April 18: Go buy all your special draw apps. Pick out and pick up your Deer and Elk tags at this time. Get on line and apply for all your draws. When you apply record or print out your confirmations. Look at your draw results page. The one that lists all your hunt choices and "points used". Print this page out. Keep them in your records.

Mid June: Look at your draw results. At this time decide if you want to go for some raffle stuff and if so purchase your raffle tickets.

Dont wait till the last minute on any of these steps.
