Leaving for a bear hunt for my 12 year old son. Not sure how much snow we are going to run into but we are ready to hike in as far as we have to. I have a tag as well but he is the the first priority. We are trying to get him his first bear and he won't be picky. We are coming from the south (Troy). Not sure how far we will be able to go north. Praying for some good weather to see some bears and taking it easy on our light weight backpacking gear. Any road reports/suggestions will be appreciated.

Good luck!

Im betting the roads will be fine lower. Gona be getting good from here on out. Good luck. I found that putting miles on the feet did no good but sitting and glassing for hours on end from a good high vantage point was much more productive . Find some good drainages that look like there should be bears there and glass all day , they are there  Good luck and have fun!

You'll have no problem accessing from the south. The northern boundary still has 2-4 feet of hard snow. Access up there is possible with the proper equipment. Last year at this time I was seeing bear all over the place but I didn't have a bear tag. This year -- different story altogether. Good luck.

Thanks I was hoping we could make it North a ways. Hopefully the bears will be out and about.
