I had to call the state today to ask some questions and the guy I talked to said the results are expected to be out between the 11th and 14th of June.
-
I will believe that if I see it. :twocents:
-
Just cause you asked. They're going to make us wait another week. Just like what we do to our kids. :chuckle:

:chuckle: :chuckle: Yeah, I have a harder time sleeping before permit results come out, than I do before X-mas.
WDFW is like my version of Santa Claus. :yike:

Here I am wondering about the draw with selfish hopes and I just found out that my 18 year old niece looks to have Lymthoma . If that dosn't just put a damper on the antissipation ! please put her in your prayers .

We will see. I love all the estimates, and anticipation. Drives me crazy until the results come out. :bash:

I was asking other questions, nothing about the results.
-
Sounds about right probably closer to the 14th. Way to put things in perspective coach.

Sorry to hear that coach. Yor family and niece have my prayers.
-
Don't care this year. Not excited about WA draw. Drew my Mule Deer rut tag in Colorado.
-
Those dates sound reasonable if you look at past draws. I'm also leaning towards the latter date of the 14th.

If you put in for the WA permits, you will probably get drawn this year. :chuckle:

I hear you Coach. I go in tomorrow to find out if I have it in my lungs. Good luck to your niece, 18 is too young.
-
good luck sevenmag.
-
I am sorry to hear about your niece coach. I hope it goes well for you today 7mag. Lets all hope and pray that both of these situations turn out o.k. As much as I want to draw a certain tag this does put everything in perspective. In the grand scheme of things like health of family, friends, etc drawing an elk tag is not as important as I make it out to be. My prayers are with both of you...
-
Prayers sent coachcw and 7mag.

Prayers sent for you hoping for the best.

Hey Coach, will definitely keep her in mind. My neice had luekemia when she was only 5yo. She is now a beautiful 24yo woman. Also, last September, my wife was diagnosed with stage IIIc Ovarian cancer. Had surgery in early Oct and she made it thru all the follow-up chemo treatments back in mid-march. Had her first checkup after six weeks and is still cancer free. If we can make it to the five year mark, chances are good that it won't be back. They have made several advances in the treatment of cancer and survival rates are much better than the historical statistics. Its hard on everyone involved when our loved ones have to go thru something like this.
Take care,
ET

No worries on draws for me,but I will be praying for coach and 7mag
-
My draw prediction is the 14th about 2pm.
-
thank you all for the thaughts and prayers . Its nice to know that people care . i dont wanna bring down the topic or hi jack the thread , but just keep it real and know that somany other things in life mean so much more than a tag. Sure its great to draw , but we all seem to whine about the system and complain about it when really it's just icing on it all . This deffinantly changes my perspective a bit . I really feel for my sister and brother in law , she lost her oldest daughter in a car wreak driving to her last day of school a few years ago and this is just to much for her to deal with . I really cant imagine what she's going through and waiting for the final results . my wife has MS but that feels like small beans compared to some of the struggles that others including members on here are going through . Good luck to everyone .

What unit did you draw if you don't mind saying?
-
Coach and 7mag, that puts it in perspective for sure. Prayers to you and yours.
Come on Colockum bull tag.
-
I'm going to say the draw results will be posted on the 15th around 2:35pm.
-
Coach and 7mag, that puts it in perspective for sure. Prayers to you and yours.
Come on Colockum bull tag.
Woodchuck you put in for Colockum?
-
Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers. I just found out yesterday that I may have a problem. I leave in a half an hour to go get a biopsy. I'm still excited about the drawing, I've been building points for a lot of years, and I want to use some.

My wife spoke with a girl who was around 20 at the time and it helped her.

14 of June at about 10am we will see the backdoor starting to change............then redraw :yike:

I am looking SOOOOO forward to not drawing anything for the 9th year in a row. I'm just hoping to draw some kind of permit before I die.
-
I expect to draw a Nooksack WM “any bull” permit with 1 point because I have no idea where Nooksack is or how to hunt it. I’ll have lots of questions for everyone after I draw it.
-
*censored*, now I know which days I won't be sleeping next month!

I know exactly how you feel. Found out not long ago that my cousins youngest (i believe he is eight) just got diagnosed with a form of cancer and suffered a stroke last week. Also in the testing for the stroke they were able to find blood clots on his brain. It is never good to have things like this happen but it makes it that much harder when it is a kid. No child deserves this, they should be worrying about sports and friends, not being sick.
-
Thanks every one for your support. Luckily I have lots of very supportive family and friends like you guys. Strangely enough, I'm not worried, I don't see what worrying gets you, you can't change it. Besides, I'm optimistic, it could be one of 3 things, one of them being Lymphoma, or Sarcoidosis, or some rare infection. I don't think it will be Lymphoma, and even if it is, I won't let it slow me down. I told my doctor today, that I am going on a backpack high hunt this September, so he better figure out how to make me healthy enough. I get the results of my biopsy on Monday, and I'm not concerned. The Marines taught me to adapt and over come, so I try and live my life like that as much as I can.
Sorry to thread jack, it fells good to talk about it, I am trying to be strong for my family, who are taking it way harder than I am.
Now, back to the drawing results. I drew a White River bull tag last year and had a blast. I am hoping for a Naches any bull tag, or a goat or sheep tag this year. If any body draws White River, let me know. I grew up hunting that unit and spent over 30 days scouting it last year, and hunted it every day of the season. I was one of the only people that drew, that filled my tag. Good luck every one.
-
great attiutude 7mag.I'm sure with your outlook things will work out ! good luck on the draw aswell.
-
Hoping all goes well for you,
-
Ill be praying for all you guys
-
Atta boy 7 mag!
-
7mag. Don't worry about jacking the thread, I'm sure every on here is in support of you and pulling for the elusive date that we all seek. Continue to stay strong and have faith in Him, God bless!
-
7mag hope the best. I am recovering from Cancer. I put in for the Any Bull Bethel and have 11 points. Just put in for points the last couple years because of life. My wife was giving 6 month to 1 year in Jan. 2010. She's holding her own for NOW. So I'm taking a chance this year. If I draw it will be my last hunt. Can't take the cold anymore! Treatments have left me weak but getting better. If I draw I may be screwed because I'm out of sync with my partners. But don't want to burn the points an just quit with them. Hope I can get back in some kind of shape by then.
-
Thanks...I needed that. So many times I don't appreciate the sweet things in life and look past what is truly important.
-
Fishseeker if you draw let us know if you draw and Someone will give you a hand ;)

Just let us know, we will make it work out somehow. There are a lot of great people on this site.

We just got the news from the doctors . It's Cancer , looks like a long road ahead . I just don't get why a Eighteen year old kid .
-
Coach, I am very sorry to hear about your niece. My prayers go out to her and your family.
-
Prayers sent coach. I can not imagine what you and your family is going through.
-
Thanks for all the support ! with great doctors and familly I'm sure she is gonna beat this thing and come out stronger on the other end !
-
Prayers sent.
-
Your family is in my thoughts coach...
I will add her to our prayer circle
-
Sorry to hear that, Coach. Try and help her stay positive.
-
Sorry to hear that coach.
Yeah i am sure i will draw this year. I have 14 points and i partnered up with my son for cow tags. So i threw 2 quality units in there if i draw i will be hunting in the rut with my rifle. Mt. Adams, or Quinalt. I will need help if i draw also. Figure i might because i am going out of the state hunting in Nov.
-
Stay strong coach, help her through it. Take her on a hunt with you to get her mind on something else. You, her and your family are in my prayers.
-
Be her Rock Coach, Best support she needs. That helps more than you could imagine. Family is very important at this time.
-
To all that offered help thank you, may take you up on that. Thanks everyone

Just a crappy cell phone pic. He wasn't very big, not one of the bulls I had been scouting. Just so happened that all the big bulls I had been wathcing vanished a couple of days before the season. I got in to elk the every day, but nothing big enough to shoot. This guy happened to be 150 yard off the road while I was traveling to a different spot in the middel of the day. It's not often you have the chance to get an elk out whole, so I shot him. He was a 4 pt. with a couple broken G2's.
-
Yep if i dont get drawn i would be only a phone call away. I have a good bunch of hunting buddies that would help.
-
Added a poll to the thread. Vote away!
-
Early voting shows a lot of wishfull thinking. :chuckle:
-
I am sticking with a guess of the 15th :IBCOOL:
-
Haven't the backdoors usually come up on Thursday nights? :dunno: I voted the 14th.
-
I couldn't vote- there isn't a place for those of us who "wish they had the extra cash to put in but didn't, so we don't give a rip because the thought of being in on the fun is like being stuck with another thorn" :chuckle: :chuckle:

Last year it was on a Tuesday afternoon (the 14th), around 1:00. The official results came up about 2 hours later.

I know, wishful thinking, but all I want for my birthday on the 6th is........... ;)
-
According to member voting, the draw results will be available sometime between June 12th and the 15th.
-
I'll say it again, the 15th.

I am going to go with 19th

I am betting they are out before Father's day weekend. However, I won't look at them until Monday so that I am not in a major funk during the weekend!
-
They have to count the massive piles of money first...

I wondered why it took so long!

I can't help it, I check the results twice a day, in the morning and afternoon. I'm too excited to sleep!!!!
-
I too check at least once a day, of course all we have to do is check this site
-
And then we will have to wait for the re-draw
-
I can't wait for the drawing results. I just got home from the Dr., and I don't have cancer. I have a disease called Sarcoidosis. Treatable, and possibly curable. Now I feel lucky.....bring on the drawing results!

That's awesome!
I had similar deal back in Feb.. Reason for my absence on the site. Ended up with a canerous tumor on my stomach and they took a 12 inch by 3 inch section out of me. Nasty scar but got all the cancer. I'm finally able to shoot my bow last weekend!

-
The suspense is klling me but I am not even gonna start checking until the 11th. Then I will probably be checking about 2-5 times a day until the results are out. Not gonna waste my time checking this week.

I don't really want to know or even check. Makes me feel dirty........reminds me that I played the game to PAY for "special" opportunities.
-
Why would you feel "dirty?" I've been paying money for the chance of drawing special hunts since about 1988. That's 24 years. I have never once regretted it. Have drawn some pretty good hunts too so it's been well worth it.
-
:yeah:
I drew goat, sheep and moose in 6 years. I still put in for desert deer with lots of points, also elk. Waiting for results is fun.
There is nothing much to hunt this time of year. The lakes I fish are still ice covered. My wife has a 2 page honey do list.
Then there are the raffles. They are fun too.
-
Hoofsand wings that is remarkable! Congrats on all the OIL tags. It took me a lot more than 6 years to draw a cow elk tag! :chuckle: Fingers crossed this year!
-
Is this going to be the thread that is the "Guess how many pages this Thread will get to" thread?
There are few things as an adult that give you this much anticipation in life. I love it!! :IBCOOL:
Boy I hope I dont draw both my Sheep AND my goat tag this year! :yike:
-
dont worry your asking way to much :sry:

He's just commenting on how much they rape us now on the prices, I think we have some pretty incredible hunts in our state. It's just the fact that because we are residents I think most of us feel it's getting a little bit expensive to put in for the special hunts. I think bobcat works for fish and game because of the support he continually gives them...??? :chuckle: It's all good bobcat, just giving you crap.
-
Dam All the OIL's in 6 years. I have been puting in for elk since 1993, i drew a cow tag in 93. And i missed a few years while in the Navy. I have 14 points and still looking at nothing. Hope to see selected, i will be hunting bulls in the rut. But if not oh well. Always next year.

WOW! 6 years! I have 15 points for everything and I can't even draw a decent deer tag. That is what I hate about our system. All I would ever like is one decent tag.

No I've got my complaints too, with the DFW, but I'm sure not going to complain about something that I buy that is totally voluntary. If I wanted to hunt for cheap I'd buy a deer tag and nothing else. I complained plenty when they came up with all the ridiculous new categories two years ago. That is still my biggest gripe I've got with the DFW. But, some hunters actually like the extra categories. :o
-
Application season and waiting on the draws is my second most favorite time of the year, right after hunting season.
-
Took me eight years to finally get a bull permit. Hoping for deer this year! I haven't researched it but does anyone know how many applicants there were for multi deer permits this year? I drew two years in a row and feel like everyone that applied got one.

Based on the last couple years they allowed more permits than they had applicants so the way you feel is logical.

That statement was made with just a we bit of sarcasm....LOL

Love that ram Phool
-
I hope I draw that tag w 0 points. As a new hunter I could reap the rewards of wdfw's system. With all the 15 pointers I keep hearing you would think I'd be worried. I'm to stubborn for that. Good luck on the draw everyone!
-
You will have 1 point.
-
Yeah, can't draw anything with 0 points. If you have 0 points, it means you didn't apply. If you apply you have a point.
-
Ok. I ment first go at er. With all the apps I bought I better draw... :chuckle:

My computer is having issues. Says draw not run yet? Am I dreaming

I'm having the same problem!

I predict a free fix for your computers at the end of next week. You will know when fixed to because it will say "not selected" :chuckle:
-
:chuckle: :chuckle: good one  What sucks your probably correct :bash: :bash:
-
dang I couldn't hold out I checked ! not drawn yet !
-
I am just going to watch this thread going forward instead of checking. Once they pop up, the word spreads like a wildfire! I would much rather watch this website than the WDFW site.
-
Well tomorrow is the big day!! I predicted that it will be on the 8th @3:30!! I guess we'll have to see what happens!!
-
I just got off the phone with Dave Ware the permit guy from wdfw. He thought the drawing should be done next week, towards the end of. I also asked him about the rumor of the point system having changes next year, he said nothing is going to change next year but in the future they might have a percentage of the tags given out only to those with max points. Like for example, if a unit has 10 quality tags 7 would only go to those who have max points, or some kind of percentage. I think that would be a good idea and yes even after I draw and have 1 point.
-
in the future they might have a percentage of the tags given out only to those with max points. Like for example, if a unit has 10 quality tags 7 would only go to those who have max points, or some kind of percentage. I think that would be a good idea and yes even after I draw and have 1 point.
If they changed it to where 70% of the tags went to max points, there would be a mass exodus of people would drop out of the point system. And what hope would that give to young hunters just starting the points game. The way it is now at least there is a chance for them. We don't need to create more ways to discourage people from the sport of hunting. People with few points are already discouraged enough. I could go along with 10 or 20% of the tags to max points holders, but not more than that.
I know the 70% was just an example - at least I hope it was.

If they change the draws in washington I know of a ton of people that would quit applying because they do not have max points. Id quit applying for everyting actually since I have no max points at all. Im sure they would lose some seriouse dough if they did that. I got 10 for all my oil tags , 12 for deer . Id have no chance if 70 % Went to max. But in all reality I would really care less and hunt out of state since it isnt that much more to go out of state for way better hunting than what is here in this dump of a state.

If they went 50% 10pts & up, 50% random, the system would start to get good! Leave it like it is and more then likeally you will never draw a tag with horns in this state in your lifetime..
-
I respectfully disagree with every ones comments about how horrible this State is and how it's a dump! This is my state of residents and I respect every aspect about it. I do not respect those that make decisions for us that makes no sense at all! The problem with the decisions that they make is that its not transparent! If it was we would all see the flaws that are written! The states not a dump, the hunting is great in the State of Washington and we all need to respect the land/animals and we can respectfully disagree with those in charge and let them know why we do!!

coachcw just submitte my prayer for youe neice. expect results soon. as for the draw im guessing the 14th

I hear the same negative things from friends that live and hunt in other states.....

Change it to something similar to what you propose and our kids will never draw a tag in this state. That’ll be the end of hunting.
My kids will never have a chance at any top units in Oregon because of their draw system.

No really this state is a dump literally. Ive never seen more garbage spread out all over the damn place. Heck I went to Idaho and montana 2 weekends ago and never seen a pile of garbage. This state is a dump and ran by some seriouse idiots.

You kidding me?? I was one of those 9 year old kids dreaming of a Bull tag!! Look what I have to show with this system! Zip! Was it the end of hunting for me, Hell no! Doesnt Oregon have a % of permits that go Random draw for every tag??
-
Permits are extra. Go kill in genral season. Work a little at it. I don't think its ever gonna get better. Not in wa. I'll be going east as soon as I can afford it. Idaho genral season should open my eyes even more to how bad wa is. I'm not just leaving this dump for better hunting. More so for a better quality of life. I'll start my sons permits in other states so when he's ten he'll have a wy bull tag to fill.
-
When he is 10 huh, might think about 15.
-
Maybe for your boy. I couldn't make him wait he wouldn't let me. He shoots a diamond iceman 30# 18.5 " draw compound and he's 6. Good groups at 10 yards but he just got the hang of it. He only wants to archery hunt. Next year he turns 8 in oct but hell be taking hunters Ed before that. Good luck on the draw!!!

I still say drop the point system all together then there will be no more crying. It would be a free for all for everyone :chuckle: At least with out point system if you got a chit load of points your odds are way better . What is not fair about that? I guess the problem is that people think they are entitled to a good tag but . Looking at it that way is crap. I have always looked at the draws as a bonus. If I get drawn hell yeah. If not well Im still hunting.

I agree. The way they let it get messed up is unrepairable. Guys going 15 years is just crazy. Idahos system would be nice. Let guys with 6 or more cash them in and start from scratch. It sounds like I get the better end of the deal as a newcomer. But i plan on the long haul so I would support the switch. I doubt wdfw will ever step up and make a serious positive change in permits or even genral hunts. They can only sell what the areas hold. Starting from scratch with all of there logic is probably there best betto keep funds pouring in by the millions. Cause I'm taking 2000+ to idahos economy. I'm sure a lot of other are as well.
-
A lot of us got to 15 points by applying for hunts with very few tags though. Im sure if I had applied for Margaret nd Toutle for the last 15 years I wouldn't have this many points built up... :twocents:
-
If you think your odds go WAY up with points, I don't think you've done the math completely. Odds if you have 1 point are about 0.001 percent (this is in general and not specific to one hunt) and if you have 17 points my odds go up to about 1.4 or around that. I used to know the odds better but through the years I try to block it all out, don't want grundy to hear me complain too much :chuckle:. You can tell the odds don't really improve much when you have a ton of points, the obvious reason is more guys have the 4 to 8 points in the draw then those with quite a bit more. By the way grundy, I haven't even started complaining yet.... just wait till I'm sitting on 26 points without catching a poacher and still not getting drawn!!!!!!!!!! :bash: :bash: That's when the real complaining starts. :chuckle:

I think WDFW have figured out the revenue hit they are going to take here in the near future with guys like me. There are a lot of hunters in this state in the 45-55 year old range sitting on 10+ points each. What we are looking at is the odds of ever drawing another quality tag once we have drawn and start back over at zero. I seriously doubt I will draw this year for "quality" deer or elk, but assuming I did, next year I would be back at zero. Now, if I started applying again, odds are that I would have to apply for at least those 10 years again, I'm betting by then it would be even longer, closer to 15 before getting another chance. This would put me in my 60's, and although I know a lot of guys hunting at that age, they are certainly not putting in the miles and elevation changes I do right now, how much of a "quality" hunt is it really going to be, and thats assuming I do draw in that time and am still vertical.
All this boils down to is guys drawing one more time and dropping out, never applying again. Now on the hunter side of things you are happy to be thinning the competition but from the revenue side of it you can see the $$$ dropping off pretty damn quick, a catch 22 for the dept. for sure.

Lol. My sister had just turned 10 in the picture below when she killed this buck at 40 yards spot and stalk with her rifle (in WA). It was easily the greatest moment of my hunting career being right there over her shoulder and seeing her reaction. She loves to hunt and asks to shoot her bow whenever she can. This same year (2011) she killed her first elk right before her 10th birthday.
Why don't you save your advice for your own family and let others makes their own decisions. ;)

Yes slim nice buck! My son has a major advantage over most. Looks like your sis does to! We'll let others neglect the tradition till age 15. Keep at it good luck on the draw and 2012!

Unfortunately Wyoming made the decision not Huntnphool. You can't hunt there until you are 12 and you can't even put in until you are 11 and that is only if you will be 12 by the time the season opens.
-
You can't draw if you don't put in. PathfinderJR drew this tag with only 2 points (I've been trying to draw it for 7 years with no luck). A lot of it is dependent on luck. The simple fact is that we have more hunters in this state than we have quality animals. I've been trying to draw a branched bull tag for 12 years and still haven't drawn. Who knows how long it will be before my number comes up? :dunno: Problem is, it's not going to get any better.
I agree with doing away with the points system. Do it like ID with straight up draws. OR and AZ aren't even worth applying for now because the odds are so stacked against someone who hasn't already been doing it that it's just a waste of money. Montana and Wyoming are in a different category because they have more game than they do hunters, they get to play by different rules. Points only work well if you can "clean out" the max point pool by a significant number every year.
-
This is getting really depressing :(
-
Ill have 16 deer points in this years drawing :chuckle:
-
when wa did the straight draw me and my dad got drawn every other year for permits
-
Been reading the opinions on permit draws and it seems there are no clear answers on how to make the drawing odds better. Some people want in there lifetime to draw moose and some big horn sheep still other a quility bull tag but with the thousands of hunters putting in for these hunts the chance of drawing are poor to say the least. The only way to cut down on the odds in my opinion would to do it like Idaho. You can put in for one permit for either moose-sheep-goat-elk -deer but only one and if you draw it;s a once in a life time the next year you can try for the next thing you would like to hunt this would give a person a chance to have better draw odds on the species he wants to hunt most and could still hunt general deer and elk. It;s fun to put in for all the permits that we can but with long odds it could be better to cut down the permits and try for the draw that you want the most it would save us money.

Bingo, I will not play the wait game after I zero out. I will be one less person in the draws after all this waiting is over, it's not that I don't hunt my butt off even when I don't draw. But waiting to get the quality tag has put off hunting archery or muzzy on the west side looking for big bulls every year. They will loose some of my money, but doubt they will miss it. I agree with you 100% on that's what is going to happen, I've talked to a lot of fellow hunters that have said the same thing. They are done!

Re-read the post I responded to. It didn't say 12 years old now did it? He wasn't referring to any law limiting age, he trying to influence a decision that he had no business being involved in. My response was directed at his general attitude, not his prior conversation.

Im sure most of you have look at this (2011 points used by permit categories)...Theres a guy in there that applied with 36points and didnt get drawn :(
-
It all depends on which permits you apply for. If you want to draw, try the ones that have 40 permits available instead of only 3. That makes a big difference. Doesn't matter how many points you have, if the odds, based on number of permits versus applicants, is 1 in 400, your odds of drawing are very poor. I have drawn buck deer permits in 2000, 2004, and 2008. But I don't strictly apply for only the most popular and most difficult to draw permits. I always put down hunts with decent odds for a 3rd and 4th choice, or now that we only have two choices in Quality categories, I choose an "easy" permit for my 2nd choice.
If you never want to draw, keep applying for those hunts that have 1 permit, and 3,000 applicants every year.

I know but thats how it goes when your putting in for some of the most popular hunts in the state ... they are not a given for sure.

I'm the guy with 37 points. Yes, thanks to a couple poachers, one guy took 3 deer one season, got him busted on #3 :) And, I did the math last year after not drawing. Even with that many points, my points get watered down REALLY fast. Just the way it is.....I hope I get my Blues tag this year, but I love to hunt no matter what, special hunts are just a bonus!
-
Just settle on the colockum... There are a lot of tags you could draw with 2 points. Some tags give 20% chance and some give 1% no matter the points. I'll always put in for 20% hunts and if they stop offering something close I'll quit putting in. The rifle guys must never draw to many of em.

Backdoor should be up fri june 8
:chuckle: that would be nice but? We will see.
-
Looking at the just the quality Colockum rifle tags they are once in a life time.
#2018 - 5 tags with 1608 applicants = 322 years for everyone to draw once.
#2019 - 1 tag with 1352 applicants = 1352 years for everyone to draw once.
:yike:
People don't understand that. They think because they have been putting in for 10+ years they should draw a tag. Unfortunately thats just not the way it works. To many people and not enough tags for all of us to draw a tag.

Can someone explain what back door results are?

It would be sweet if they come out tomorrow. The very unlikely possibility of drawing something is really getting to me! I told myself I would not start checking every 3 hours until monday, that ended yesterday though.

Can someone explain what back door results are?
The backdoor results are here:
https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov/wa/specialhunt (https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov/wa/specialhunt)
In the past you could find out if you drew a permit a day or two before the official results were out. Last year it was a few hours. It doesn't let you know which specific permit you have though.
Frontdoor is the regular check from the WDFW site:
https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov/wa/specialhuntlookup (https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov/wa/specialhuntlookup)

Do you remember the dates? Or what day of the week or what week of the month?
-
I do not remember the dates or the days but I do remember it not being on a Friday.
-
Last year I am almost sure it was the 14th or 15th.
-
If you go back to the start of this thread bobcat posted the day and time that the backdoor and the front door were posted.
-
Haven't the backdoors usually come up on Thursday nights? :dunno: I voted the 14th.
Last year it was on a Tuesday afternoon (the 14th), around 1:00. The official results came up about 2 hours later.

That has only happened once that I can remember. And it's not really a "redraw." The back door results are not official. So it would only be a "redraw" if they posted offical results and then did it over and changed the results.

Yeah I see what you are saying about it being unofficial. So I guess a better question is how offten have people looked at the back door (unofficial) and then when the official results come out things are different?

Once that I remember.

Very nice, what units did you apply for?
Congrats to all of you guys that drew.
-
why are some people getting selected and others say drawn not run yet? I have nothing drawn yet.
Because some people are clicking on the "draw results" link the official way and those arent up yet.
The rest of us are clicking on "submit an application" and looking at our draw history. The draw history includes this year, and is what we call "back door".

Bethel bull modern group of 4!!!!!
-
Drew Margret bull!!!! with 5 points used. :IBCOOL: Muzzy oct 6-12.
I'm zipper lip on the cow and late whitetail, but will say they were easier less popular stuff. Wouldnt want to make them known.
Maybe the WDFW isnt so bad after all for moving Margret over to the Bull catagory. Guess I'll have to go see what all the Agnew hoopalla is about.
-
All that matters is that my little sis (10) drew her youth deer and second deer tags! Nothing special but she WILL get two deer. She's got her mother's luck. =)
Gonna be hard to top last years buck (her 1st ever) since I think it's two doe tags. At least they are both a short drive this time. Lol.

Would you mind posting the hunts you applied for? I'm betting you only applied for the most difficult to draw permits? If so, that's why you didn't draw. 15 points doesn't guarantee anything. Next year apply for permits that have better odds of drawing.

The more people that put in for those practically impossible to draw permits, the better the odds are going to be for you to draw those other permits since they aren't applying for them. :twocents:

I give you example, all the OIL tags are hard but Muzzle Mudflow and Toutle for Quality Elk, Both Margaret for Bull, and Desert and Quilomene for deer. I understand that they are a little harder to draw but 15 years is b.s. in this state. This cost me over $800 for me and my son for license, tags and permit fee's. I don't whine but our sytem is f'ed up. Guys that have alot of points are usually the guys that hunt hard and put in for permits every year, thus giving the state revenue every year. Not just now and then. That is why if and when I ever draw I am done.

Well for one thing the WDFW did screw your odds this year by putting the Margaret in the bull category instead of quality. The Toutle permit very likely was much harder to draw because of that. But I still think you're not drawing permits because you only apply for the most popular and hardest to draw hunts. I drew a deer permit in 2000, 2004, 2008, and now again in 2012. This year I did apply with a group, of which one group member had 20 points and the other had 12, bringing our average to 7 points. So that helped. But the Desert permit is about as hard to draw as a moose permit. Any way you look at it, it takes luck to draw a permit. Points don't guarantee anything, and that's what is GOOD about our system. Otherwise, new hunters would have no incentive to even get started in applying for special permits.

Not selected for me or my son and he was in for youth.

I knew you worked for the wdfw..... :chuckle: :chuckle:Let's see, you supported the price increases, the point system and you drew 2 out of 5??? Next year no matter how stinky the bs is, I'm with you and the WDFW!! I do have to admit they did a great job on getting the permits out quick this year.

The thing is I always apply for hunts that are relatively easy to draw, whenever possible. I did not draw moose, or quality elk, or bull elk. But yes, you should know the WDFW does watch this site, and whoever complains the most, is automatically disqualified from the drawing. Thought everyone knew that. :dunno:
-
Bob is correct, I have been a huge pain in WDFW's arse for the last 16 years and every year they pay me back during permit season. :'(
-

:yeah: :brew:
-
Late blues muzzy cow and late blues muzzy white tail buck and a tenaway turkey to boot.
-
I'm with Bob on this. I only had 5 elk points cause a few years of out of state hunts had me stocking points so I didn't have too much on my plate. 5 elk points is the most I've ever had. I generally draw an elk tag every 2 or 3 years. Yeah they aren't premier, but they are fun and put meat in the freezer. Some guys maybe get 1 great tag with 15 points. Me I get 5 or 6 good tags and lucked into a great one.
Maybe this will wake some folks up.
The over the counter, or pretty well 100% draw tags in Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado are better than 95% percent of the elk and 98% of the deer tags in Washington. You can easily get a better tag in 3 years of draws in those states than you could maybe draw in a lifetime in Washington.
Put in for other states!!!!!
-
Yup, hat's off to WDFW for the quick results this year. I am also noticing that a lot of OIL tags went to people who also drew Quality Bull or Quality Buck. Must be max point holders :dunno:
PathfinderJR and I both drew late muzzy cow tags. It'd be nice to draw something with horns (never have), but I'll take the meat tags  Besides, I've only been at it 11 years, so I figure I've got a few more to go...
-
Guess I don't have to worry about begging for help, 11points NOT SELLECTED, Bethel. :bash:

It will be interesting to see how many less people applied for the quality hunts, and the OIL hunts, due to the price increase. I actually put my wife in for moose and antlerless moose this year, and did not last year, because I thought her odds might be better because of the price increase. It could be that others did the same, and maybe there will be MORE applications? I doubt it, but anything's possible. Wouldn't the WDFW love it, if more people bought applications at the higher price? :chuckle:
-
A friend of mine has been putting his Dad in for Draws for a few yrs & I'm not sure his Dad even new it. Well he just told me his Dad drew a Cow Moose tag & a Nooksack tag. :chuckle:
-
Cow tags for me, dad and cousin. nothing else.

I am also interested in seeing the report and find out how many people did not put in for quality permits. Do you know when it is going to come out? But I am very pleased with them getting the drawing done quickly even though I did not draw anything.

No, I don't know, but it will probably be at least a month or two.
-
I got the Ryderwood MF cow tag! :IBCOOL: This is the second time in 3 years. Last time I didn't get to hunt though because of work. :bash:
Now to decide which gun to use. One of the 338's? Maybe the 358 Win. Or possibly the 375 Ruger? Or maybe one of the handguns.......... :chuckle: These are the tough choices that will keep me up at night.

Seemed last year the raffle tickets took a big hit with the economy. I wonder how bad of a hit they take this year? Draw odds may be improving.
-
Seemed last year the raffle tickets took a big hit with the economy. I wonder how bad of a hit they take this year? Draw odds may be improving.
It may have been more to do with the fact that they quit selling raffle tickets online last year, than the economy. You had to actually go to a store that sells hunting licenses to purchase the raffle tickets last year. Before that you could just get on the computer and do it at home. I do think odds should have improved somewhat on the raffle. I would buy a few this year just because of that, like I did last year, but I now with the permits I drew I now have enough hunts on the schedule that I don't want anymore. So I will be saving my money this year.
-
Maybe the dealer deal slowed sales. Hard to say. I think most folks buy there stuff at dealers. I know BiMart keeps busy. Not sure if I'll buy any. I got a good early October elk tag, and a decent November deer tag. Maybe go for a sheep tag or something.
