Are you ready?!? :o These last 3 months usually fly by for me. I still need to get a few things dialed in (bow string reserved, broadheads dialed in) but I have been shooting almost daily and putting in the miles on the road. I love this time of year!
-
It will get better when I can get out and start scouting.
-
I'm always ready. Can't really start scouting until draw results are out :bash:
-
can't scout until at least mid-July when the roads open up from snow.
-
Is that all! 92 days and I'm counting! Can't wait.
-
35 days from today until the opener for archery elk; 37 painful days until I hit the road for elk camp. To make the wait a little easier I am headed on a scouting trip Fri - Sun. It will be 30 days to the opener from Sunday. What better way to spend the time than in the backcountry looking around? :IBCOOL:

Yep, 37 days and just lost my hunting partner. Gonna be a lonely camp for the second time in three years.
-
Im heading out on the 2nd of September.

Stick one, D-Rock! You got the stuff, baby.

How do you all get the time off of work and from family?
I can only swing 6 or 7 vacation days and thus I am maximizing my time by missing the first 3 days of the season to hunt the last 10. I wish I could be there on the 4th! And 5th and 6th...

Going out this weekend and set another stand (already have one up). Plus, scout up a big 6x7 bull we saw before leaving last time. Going to be 4 to 6 of us in elk camp this year (and I'm the only one w/Bull tag) :IBCOOL: Can't wait!!!

Elk camp is my families vacation. I have 3 weeks vacation now at work and all of them are used for hunting.

I'm lucky enough to work for myself and can take as much time as I want. But, I do push it a little with the wife. She's not a huge fan of me being gone for 2 weeks at a time, but she supports me when it comes to hunting. Can't wait till my kids are old enough to go.

Leaving Aug 31st already breaking into sweats!

It is all about priorities and timing. I don't vacation to Reno or Hawaii.
Schedule big family events outside of hunting season and don't use vacaion for them. Apply for permits that "require" you to hunt. Go to work rather than take leave. Sock a little money away all year long for hunting. Let family know months in advance about your plans so you don't surprise them. If possible, save up leave until you get in a "use or lose" situation.
