It will be fun too see how many were drawn. Still waiting to draw for all three of them :bash:.
-
I drew the Naches Goat tag.
-
My granson got 49 north any moose and desert deer..
-

That Desert deer permit could be called a OIL tag.
That's some great luck, did he have a lot of points?
-
Hey, rack attack you should hook up with Norsepeak.
-
It was luck he had only 6 points for both the moose and deer.
-
I drew the Naches Goat tag.
Thats a great tag a good buddy of mine drew that last year! Plenty of goats so have fun and wait for a big one!!

How many points?
-
I believe my buddy had 12 when he drew! I know that may piss a few people off. Points help but I do believe its luck of the draw!
-
12 is respectable, that tag is what I always choose for my 1st option. I'm glad he drew with 12 and not 1 or 2.
-
I agree 2 years ago I was in the margret with a cow tag and 3 days into the hunt I met a guy that had a bull tag with only 2 points. At that point he had yet to see a bull in the margret and crossed the green into the winston just to miss a small 3 point. I would be suprised if he ended up filling his tag. The weather was perfect and the bulls were vocal.
-
No OIL tags for me. Just want to watch the thread...
Good luck to all who drew
-
Hey, rack attack you should hook up with Norsepeak.
:yeah:
-
Already in contact with Norse. Not to make anyone mad, and since the info will be available to everyone at some point on the WDFW website, I drew this tag as a 1st choice with 7 points. YES, I got extremely lucky, but with OIL tags that is what it takes.
-
Buddy of mine drew one of the Manson unit sheep tags. Love the guy, but the first words out of my mouth were you *censored*.
-
Oh where, oh where is the the Swakane Unit sheep tag. Oh where, Oh where could it be? I've been watching several stud sheep in that unit. Last year the bog boy slipped past the permit holder.
-
I drew chowder ridge goat tag...

Didn't the state record (maybe WR) come out of there last year? Or was that the year before?

It did not slip past him he liked the one he got better!

My dad drew a Selkirks any moose and the Mt. Spokane Master Hunter moose tag.

My dad drew a Selkirks any moose and the Mt. Spokane Master Hunter moose tag.
I think selkirk is the best tag to have good luck

I heard that the master hunter moose tag is a joke. They rarely ever call anyone. It's a damage control kinda thing. Do you know if it's true? Congrats to your pa on the draw!
-
No matter what, he needs to start shopping for a freezer, or borrow one of your extras. Good for him!
-
49 Any moose tag!!!!!!
Toutle quality Bull & Margaret Cow tag! What a haul!

cant wait for the hunt bud ! congrats
-
My dad drew a Selkirks any moose and the Mt. Spokane Master Hunter moose tag.
thats great But I am confused :dunno: So there is a master hunter moose tag :yike: how can this be be when so many guys have 17 pts plus some and they can not get a tag ... I think this is BS .... nOTHEN AGAINST YOUR DAD but I just think this is wrong ....if they want to do something like this then it should be for (all) the hunters 65 and over ...these guys have donated a life time to the Dept and they should be rewarded first !! Just my opinion but a good one .... :dunno: :yeah:
-
I believe the master moose tags are "on call" type tags and most don't even get a call. Maybe some MH's can correct me if I'm wrong.
Congrats to all the OIL tag winners!
-
49 Degree North- any Moose with 16 points
Umtanum cow group of 3 with 5 points
-
I noticed that a lot of the OIL draws seem to be doubled with Quality Elk and Quality Buck. Must be max point holders? Maybe raising all the prices took a large number of the "lucky 1 point drawers" out of the pools. :dunno:
-
Points are a joke...they just give you the impression that you have a chance...My odds would be better if everyone applied with zero points every year.
Congrats to those that drew....Guess Ive been waiting 15 years, whats a few more.
-
I "STICKIED" this thread so we could keep track of all the OIL tag holders. Please post your OIL tags on here if you haven't done so already. I know there are a couple other threads out there.
-
I snagged a Hangman Any Moose Tag! Pretty stoked to say the least. I get to hunt moose two years in a row!!!!!
-
Congrats to everyone. I will be watching from the sidelines again this year as I am still unable to pull a tag in this god forsaken state.
-
my dad got hangman A moose
-
I got the GMU 113 any moose tag!!! I couldn't be happier. I hope all of you other oil tag holders have an awesome hunt! Can't wait for some pics.
-

The truth is that there are more "max point holders" than there are tags. Even if you gave ALL the tags out to them every year, it would take years just to clean out the guys that have been applying since 1996. That's just the reality of applying in a state that has more hunters than game. There's really no "good" answer.
-
I luckily drew the Mt Clemons early sheep tag (14 pts), and also the late season Palouse WT tag (1 pt). I'm very excited about the sheep tag, and would appreciate any location advice if anyone knows the best place to find them. I grew up in Selah, but it has been a long time since I have hunted on Clemons.
-
My niece drew her S. Mt. Spokane youth moose. The last three years I got kudos for putting her in but now I am in the running for uncle of the year. I can't wait for her to get home from school to let her know.
Congrats everyone on their successful draws and good luck.
-
I drew one of the any moose tags for Mt. Spokane North, as well as a second deer North Spokane (archery). Found out on Sat., probably should of bought a powerball ticket but I didn't. Good luck to all that drew any OIL tags.
-
Yikes!!! How about this for a double. Selah Butte sheep tag and Margaret rifle elk bull tag. Looks like November will be a very busy month for me. Also, I'm already going to Arizona antelope hunting in September, so maybe I should be buying lots of powerball tickets and entering the Arizona Super Raffle in July as well!!! I think they are about the same odds, by the way.
-
I drew a Margaret cow muzzleloader, Mt Spokane south antlerless moose, and Selah butte bighorn. Long time hunter new to the forum. Will be a busy fall I have Montana deer and elk tags also.

I drew the Bumping River Mtn Goat tag! I had to do a double take when I pulled up the results.
-

That is the Goat tag I was trying for. Got within 20 yards of a couple nice billys elk hunting.
-
Lots and lots of goats in bumping should be a great hunt for sure
-
I'm super stoked, a Mtn Goat hunt has always been my dream hunt. I just figured I'd have to hire a guide in Canada or Alaska if I was to ever shot one. I never dreamt of being able to actual hunt one in my own state.
I have alot of work ahead of me. I already talked to the sheep and goat biologist and he gave me a starting place. Next is to get some maps and start making some weekend backpacking trips into the area.
-
I got Swakane sheep.
Also Watershed any bull.
-
There is a ton of oil tags on here this year! It should be a great year to see some great critters hit the dirt!!!
Good luck to all and make sure you take lots of pictures and share your stories :IBCOOL:
-
I got Swakane sheep.
Also Watershed any bull.
Is this a joke?
-
I drew two buddys with bull permits and one with a moose tag , now look who's lucky ( not my BACK) :chuckle:
-
I drew the "NOT SELECTED" tag straight across the board for every species :chuckle:
Any of you NE moose tag holders want a tag-along that doubles as a fine pack mule, give me a shout. I'd happily pitch in and help out if I could be a part of one of those hunts

I'll tell you what - I was lucky enough to be invited to tag along last year for an Observatory bull tag, and 4 of the 7 loads came out of those mountains on my back ......... and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Was just as fun as if I'd pulled the trigger myself and I'll be talking about that hunt for the rest of my life.

I got Swakane sheep.

Is this a joke?
No joke. And I have a feeling he will do justice to both of those tags.

I drew Oregon's Snake River tag two years ago and took that ram. He scored 182 4/8. Never thought I'd hunt sheep again..

Congrats whuppinstick, you have a great opportunity ahead of you.
-
Congrats on so many great tags, can't imagine all that in one season.

Thanks! I plan to give it 100%! I'll try to share as much as I can along the way whenever I get internet access.

-
That is impressive! Good Luck and Welcome to you new guys!
-
Drew the Hangman B Cow Moose OIL tag, and then most of you already know about my Goat tag! Gonna be a great season this year, hope to fill all my tags with some respectable animals, and share some meat with friends and family!
-

Sure! We'll put in as partners for Quality Bull. How many points do you have? :)

-
Dave
Do you have those "powerball" numbers picked out for me?
-
I drew a unit 113 any moose tag! I am stoked. Good luck to everyone!
-
I drew a Manson sheep tag. I am really excited, but my wife just doesn't seem that interested. I am sure she will get more excited the more I talk about it.

Oh well, you drew a sheep tag so you dont have much to complain about. My wife is sick of hearing about my bull tag too.

Holy smokes you have some good luck! Which units did you draw in NV for antelope and mule deer?
MS
-

MS
032 for antelope and 171 for deer. After calling some past hunters it sounds like the antelope tag is a good one and the deer tag less-so, which makes returning it easier.
-
You should post up the story for your snake river sheep hunt. We like the OIL stories! How long were you applying in Oregon before you drew that one?
-
49DN Moose!!!!! Been applying since 1987 (pre points). so how ever many points you could possibly have, I had them.

Congrats whuppinstick

Sorry, I've been away from internet access for the winter so I missed your message. I got a decent bull. Maybe low 300's? He had two busted tines that I didn't see before shooting. The first couple days of hunting were awful weather-wise. It started to open up on the 4th day, which is when I shot my bull. I'll post a story with pictures after it gets published.
-
Whuppin,
How did your sheep hunt go? What did he score. What about you NV antelope.
We need some feedback.

Yes, as huntnphool said, you will see the sheep picture in May.
NV antelope was upper 70's. I think that one is being printed in Huntin' Fool April issue so I can put a story up here soon. My Idaho goat picture was published in this month's magazine so I think I can put that story up. I have a lot of things on my plate but I'll try to do that in the next few days.
-
The sheep picture can be seen on WDFW photo page...

49 Any moose tag!!!!!!
Toutle quality Bull & Margaret Cow tag! What a haul!
eeny meeny miney mo. :) Hopefully you can hunt all three. I drew the Margaret cow tag 2 years ago. Saw 42 bulls in 2 days all within 75 yards but had a hard time finding cows. I did get a big cow but it took some work.
-
That was last year my friend.. :) Had a good year, Just drew a quality deer tag this year....
-
Lucks been on your side when it comes to drawing tags

First time I see this thread, whoopingstick really had the hunting year of a lifetime :yike:
