Found out yesterday that i drew the grayback deer tag. Not really looking for information of where to hunt, but sure would like to see some pics!
-
Sure, I can do that. Sorry, I didn't get any pictures in the field, forgot the camera. :bash:
But this is the buck I got in 2008:
-
That is a great Grayback buck!

Do us all a favor and fill your cougar tag while your up here...

man if I was a rifle hunter that would be the tag I would want, I hunt it every year late archery and see some dandy bucks that are always just out of range.... congrats....

Congrats on the tag looks like a great hunt hopefully you get a few pointers on here since you didn't come on looking for a handout like many do this time of year.
-
Congrats on that tag! How many points did you have? I been shot down 7 years now for that hunt. Good luck.

Here's an oldie but goodie from a ways back. Killed on the breaks.(https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi238.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fff110%2Ftkswhanson%2FDSCN0689.jpg&hash=02b908460f644750b6d90e4bb2e9229a1a8e7936)

Our camp in 2009

some head shots and 2nd pic is of my younger cousin with his first buck. Huge 2 point with eye guards

It can be a great hunt! A lot of factors can come into play. Cat pressure plays a lot into it, they move a lot of deer around. If you hunt hard you should be rewarded well.
-
Looks like a good camp to me, you don't see too many of those anymore with many bucks hanging.
-
I too have been dreaming of this tag for years, with no luck. I always get really excited to find out the results and again this year disappointment. I am very excited for you elkhunter 1 and hope you have a great hunt. Bobcat, that is a really wide buck you took. Scottfrick, that looks like a shot from the old days when you could hunt over Thanksgiving weekend over there and have alot of success. I have hunted there since I was 15 and have seen alot of changes in the unit. If you catch it right, you should have some good luck. I will be there the last week of the general season, hopefully with success.

One year my friend killed a big 4pt there on the first day. The next year his sister drew the same tag, hunted VERY hard and saw nothing worth shooting. Have Fun!
-
That year in 09 we had a total of 9 bucks hanging in camp all in a week hunting trip. Sure wish every year was like that. all were general season tags.
-
holy crap! those are some impressive bucks. I plan on scouting as much as possible come august and september, so there's no need for a handout. I'm only 20 yrs old so i better have some free time and energy to be out there scouting and hunting hard. I had ten points when i drew the tag. Been waiting for this tag for awhile now! I do have one question though, what are the breaks? is that the columbia hills?
-
Some great deer there guys. Love the pic of the "meat tree". Looks like a great camp. Congrats on the tag and good luck.

Yup I seen that camp before.. That was a great year.. Not so good last year..
-
Last year was a pretty big disappointment. out hiking we came across 5 or more dead deer carcasses including a few fawns. So not sure what was going on.
