After a very frustrating season we finaly put one down. Last sunday we finaly found an area that had a ton of fresh sign but it was late in the day so we had to head out. We made our plans to be back there this weekend hoping to atleast see a bear. So first thing sat mourning we headed in Ben went left,I went right and Terry headed up the middle. Just before Ben and I met up a doe runs right by me. I look up at Ben and he is pointing at something very exitedly. I get up to him to find out a bear was chasing the doe. So we head after the bear only to find out it was a sow with a small cub. Ben walks over the hill and spots a big boar on the next ridge chasing a deer. So we get terry over there and are walking down to a landing to see how we can get to the other side. Terry stops about half way down to look over the edge of the ridge we are on and I do the same on the other side while Ben heads down to look off the end of the landing. Just at Terry and I start to head for the landing we hear BOOM. Ben had a boar step out about 150 yards down the hill from him and with 1 shot from his .300 win mag dumped him. The bear tumbled all the way down to the bottom of the ravine and we spent the next 3 1/2 ours getting him up the hill and the 3 miles back to the truck. We figure he weighs in at about 175lbs and has about a 19"-20" skull.

Ya, the first pic is kind of creepy, but good job anyway. I bet having that cart was a relief.

First thing I thought of when I saw the first pic was Jimmy Buffet..........God's Own Drunk.
"So I took 'ol buddy bear by his island sized paw and I led 'em over to still............."

Hey first off congratulations on the bear. Second of all, be careful packing a bear out like that,,, many hunters would see you doing that from 200 yards away and it would look just like a bear walking through the clearcut. More than likely nothing would happen, but just be careful. I know many people who would throw up a bullet in a situation like that. I always think about this kind of stuff in the woods. But on a positive note, congrats on a nice bear!

I know you said you were 3 miles back, but the same thought went through my mind. I've packed a few out on my back similar to that. We always put a hunters vest on the bear just in case.
About 175 pounds with a 19 to 20" skull???? If that's what he ends up at that's a freak of a bear! Very cool.
Looks like you guys were having some fun. Very nice indeed. Congratulations to you guys.

The only reason we didnt worry about putting a vest on him was the spot we were in you couldnt see us from more than 100 yards and there was 3 of us walking together.and we knew we were the only ones there.had it been during the fall season we would have had him wrapped up in orange.
He is a freak of a bear.the head on this thing does not match up with the body at all. I have pretty big hands and i can easily fit both my fists between his ears.

A verynice bear man.
Congrats....love the chest blaze.

His head might be 19 20 inches not the skull... but still a cool bear!!
