I wanted to decide on a broadhead today and cross that "to do" off my list. A Muzzy 4 blade 1", a G5 Striker, Steelforce Phathead, and a Wasp Bullet was used from distances of 20-50 yards. I knew how the Wasp would perform, but I was very surprised that all four heads flew EXTREMELY well and almost identical to one another. At 20 and 30 yards I was hitting the 3" dot on one of those green foam layered Cabela's targets with all heads. At 40 yards all 4 heads were in the 4"center dot and at 50 yards I had a 6" group. I'm very satisfied and impressed with all the heads, but at the end of the day I'm no closer to deciding one which one to use on elk. :bash: Any good or bad experiences with these particular broadheads?

Those are all good heads it does not surprise me they all shot spot on. Now try the wackems and slictricks and you will have even more to think about.

the tests were flight test such as yours, then picked my favs from that, then bought a rack of ribs and shot them to test penetration.

Well, since you determined accuracy, I'd figure out which ones had the best penetration. Keep us posted on your results, I'm curious.

They are all more than capable of killing anything our fine state has to offer. Which one looks the best to you? There has to be one that you like more? :chuckle:

I actually shoot the phatheads and i love them. I shot my bull moose last year from 65 yards and a complete pass thru. Bull went 50 yards and piled up in seconds. Love those heads

I shoot Muzzy MX-4 with an 1-1/8" cutting diameter and love them. Shoot good groups and are lethal on contact! Two for two the last two years with them. Excellent blood trails.
I used to shoot the Wasp, with less success. Made the switch and have never thought twice.

Good choices on the Bh's...most all are good these days, keep em sharp and good shot placement and you'll have no issues...I shot the WASP Bullets for the last 5 years with good success. Switching to Shuttle T's this year, since they have changed their sharpening process....

Update: Today I noticed my Carbon Express Maxima arrows were scraped up from the broadhead shooting I recently did, so I shot them again using some Stalker Extreme arrows from Cabela's. To my surprise there was very little difference between the two. In fact my last shot at fifty yards with the PhatHead was perfect, and is the head that flew the best and is the one I'm going to go with. As for the arrows, I may just go with the Cabela's brand since they shot just as nice with the broadheads, and they are half the price.

Dont just stop there, the slick tricks are the best broadhead in my book, the last three years i have killed everything that i shot at. The bull that i shot last year i drilled it in the hard bone like ball and socket and the broad head took it like a champ, the blades were a little bent but not bad, i had the same thing happen on a deer with a muzzy and it foled up like a hide a bed. The deer that i killed was at 83 yard down hill and it went 40 yards and pilled up and the bear that i shot was 50 and it was a pass through both sholders and it went 30 yards as they are best in my book. I shoot 90 yards almost every day and im can put 5 arrows in the small part of a pie plate.
