picked this up today as they had a decent price ($489.99) on them.
Went to the range and fired 60 rounds threw it with out a single problem.
I shot a mix of 185 gr MGHP reloads and 230 factory Remington FMJ's and HP's. All shots were fired off hand, standing. I'm very happy with the groups as 90% of my shooting is with a 4oz Jewell trigger and even though the XDs trigger is good, it doesn't quite feel the same...
I started at 7 yards for most of the rounds then back to 50 feet for the last mag of 230HP's.
This is my first polymer Springfield and I do like it. That says a bit as I'm a die hard Glock man.
The 230 gr rounds had quite a bit of jump, more so than I like for fast follow up shots, but not by any means uncomfortable.
The 185's were a lot more manageable and would be my choice for carry loads.

I like the XD's nice weapon. I like the 40 cal as you get more rounds.
-
Very nice! I have been wanting to check this new xd out but have not seen them at any of my local stores. Looks like it would be a pretty nice gun for conceal carry.
-
i have a full size xd 45acp, in green and black! i like it but but its too big to carry so i need to get another thats smaller and because i worry to much i want one with a hammer and safety so i wont feel nervous about carrying it with one in the pipe.

why are you worried about carrying one in the pipe with an xd? the gun will not operate at all without a proper grip on the gun. I have seen plenty of guns with a mechanical safety be inadvertantly unsafetied. I feel 100% camfortable with the safety features of an xd. plus its a draw and fire and in a defense situation I dont want to mess with a mechanical safety. :twocents:

They are a great handgun. The only semi auto that I have ever trusted to carry.

I have the xdm .45c and I love it carry it all the time with one in the pipe and never worry about it

I love my XD 4" .45. It shoots excellent groups and feels really good in my hand. I don't keep one in the pipe, though. This is the first firearm I've owned with the grip/trigger safety. Although I have no problem keeping my finger out of the trigger guard, it still seems safer to jack one when I need it. Mine goes everywhere with me.

I have the .40 XDM and love it, mine is a full frame. I love your Glock withthe green body. I've been looking for one like tis without luck! :(

Good to hear a review about the XDs. I wished my local Dealers had one so I could handle it. With the single stack magazine making it thinner to carry would be perfect for conceal carry. I use a XDM 45 for my country open carry gun and a Ruger SP101 2.5" 357mag. as my conceal carry in town gun.

I like the XDM(M) 5.25 .45 , functions flawlessly and it's a laser.

Looks like my front seat on an average day driving around town...............

I got an XD-45 Compact when they first came out. Great gun. Don't shoot it as much as I should. As far as not carrying one in the pipe--I hope you never have to use it with one arm incapacitated in a moment of need! :dunno:
-
 have two xd45's and love them, first is a 4.5in with a extra thumb safety that my wife has now claimed :chuckle:
the second is a 5in tactical with a green poly frame

I carry with one in the pipe now. Have been doing so for a few weeks and I'm comfortable with it. You make sense about possibly not having enough time or the use of one arm.

I like an inside the waistband (IWB) holster.

I used Raven & Kaluban Kydex carry holsters until I ran across the GunfightersINC Kydex. They are well built and well designed and he will do the "Ronin" carry holster for your handgun. Here is a pic of one I had him do for a Glock 22. He has several color options, you can take a look at on his web site.

Crossbreed make a couple of good IWB holsters.

I have never done IWB. Seems like it would uncomfortable, but again...I've never tried one. Then again, on the outside doesn't seemed very concealed!

Was able to finally put my hands on an XDs today. Me likey! A nice IWB slim heavy hitter. Very nice in hand.

I wear it all the time with jeans, oftentimes without a belt. A belt makes it more comfortable. I was skeptical too, but really like it.

It takes a little getting used to but it's not bad, especially with a slim pistol. I have used the High Noon Bare Asset holsters for several pistols, most recently my Glock 36. It is nice and simple, most comfortable for me about 4:30 behind the hip. Blade-tech belt holsters also are great at retention and keeping the pistol tight to your body.
-
Full sized XD 45 carried IWB mid Back and get so you hardly notice it. Put a set of Crimson trace on it and you'll enjoy the feel in the hand even more.

Can't wait to get a xds 45 acp. Where'd you find one for $489?
-
PianoMan; if you are iffy with the loaded chamber, practice this- as you go to reholster the XD series pistol, move your thumb from the grip to the back of the slide-like you are putting your thumb over the Cocking indicater pin.. this ensures the grip safety is not pushed in while it slides into the holster, and ensures that if sonething catches the trigger on the way into the holster- you are still ok... as to carry holsters, I am fond of the Don Hume 715m (its an IWB)..
