Wild Berries

(1/3) > >>

andrew_in_idaho:
Found some white mulberries growing wild recently, and it brought about some questions. Are mulberries common in the NW? Aside from huckleberries what are your other favorite berries to forage in the wild? We ended up picking enough for a couple of pies. Apparently the white mulberry is a misnomer as most of the ripe berries were a deep purple.

I like mulberry, thimble berries, and just about any berry I can pick..

Actually did not know mulberry...
.
Those looked like wild raspberry to me, then I did some googling...

Twispriver:
I pick huckleberries, black caps and thimble berries but my favorite has to be the little trailing blackberries.

I love berries, but don’t ever recall finding mulberries in the woods.  Cool

Had a huge mulberry tree when I was in Yakima. The starlings would swarm the ripe berries. Every car within blocks of that tree had massive purple crap all over them.  Very hard to get off when dried and baked on by the sun.
