My first elk!!!
« on: September 10, 2012, 02:35:09 PM »
shot this guy about 7:00pm on the 8th in a clearcut where i had been seeing a heard about every evening so i sat kinda on the edgeof the clearcut about 100 yards from the timber line. i had been there for about two hours then him three cows and a two by three came over the hill they were just slow walking then a bunch of weekend hunter way down in the valley were just bugling like crazy like every three seconds i heard as many as three bugles at the same time :o so they look down that way and i drew back then he didnt like hearing those bugles so he started jogging strait to me as he went into a dip i stood up i was sitting on a stump and as he came out of the dip he was about 40 yards infront of me and i shot then he kinda stood for a second then ran about 40 yards then slowly walked with his head down up the little hill on the edge of the clearcut and died right on the edge of the clearcut!

great story great shot and a nice set of horns to remind you of your 2 hour cold butt.
