Coyote Pelts and Fur Question
« on: January 11, 2011, 02:12:27 PM »
So the last coyote I shot we skinned if and I'm going to try and tan it.  My question is where can you sell the raw pelts for cash?  It's a rumor but have to ask, I heard Indian Reservations buy them so is that true? And also does anyone else know where I can sell the pelts?  I heard Pacific Recycling has a fur recycling that you can sell them but I was going to ask you guys first because I've tried researching and can't find anything.  Anyone with any suggestions will help alot. Also, I live in the Othello area so anywhere close to that would be best.  Any place like Tri Cities or Yakima or even up to Spokane.

I've heard there is a veterinarian in Davenport Wa. that buys the entire coyote. I've heard that for years but it's to far away from me to know for sure. Look him up in the phone book and call him.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

I have heard but don't have personal experience that Moscow Hide and Fur buys.  You can email them or call them and ask

go up to Pateros and sell to George Brady.  They can be skinned or on carcass.

I called Pacific Hide and Fur a few months ago and they said they buy on a limited basis. If it has a good coat the will pay 5-10 dollars for a fleshed, salted, and stretched hide.

Emptyhanded- Thanks. I might give them a call soon to see what they are asking for and is Pacific Hide and Fur located in Spokane?

If you enjoyed skinning a coyote, I might have a bunch more you can practice on the first part of February :chuckle:
I know the "vet" in Davenport, I believe I still have his number.  I believe he retired years ago.  He used to go partners with our club on all the 'yotes we would bring in from our annual derby in Warden.  The last couple of years the fur prices have been so bad that he was not interested anymore. :bash:

Yup it's in spokane. It maybe easier to find under Pacific Recycling, either one will get you where you need to go.

deereman- Actually I didn't do the skinning, just doing the fleshing and tanning. Doesn't sound like that guy is going to be willing to buy pelts.
Emptyhanded- I'll give them a call but sounds like they aren't taking that much for coyotes.

I got emails back from George and Moscow Hide and Fur. George said $10-$20 depending on size, damage, quality etc. so I will have to get back to him on other things and Moscow H&F asked me where I was from.

I have a lot more research to do but I will keep updating.

There is also one in Kennewick if that is closer for you but I cannot remember if they still take furs or not. They changed their name from Pacific Hide and Fur to Pacific Steel Recycling in the late '90s. I cannot remember taking anything in to them for at least 15 years so you might want to give them a call. Their number is (509) 582-2134

They use to amny years ago. But they do not do it anymore. Used to take deer hides there and got a pair of leather gloves for the hide. but no more.
Nothing like a Remington model 700xcr.
