2nd grouse trip of the season. Hmmm, odd.
« on: October 03, 2011, 03:23:11 PM »
Brody and I put a lot of miles on the paws and boots today.

We were able to flush 4 blue grouse, all singles.

I was only able to fire one shot and connected.

Was happy as I was shooting a new gun I bought SAT night. 887 Remington. My 1st shot was a kill..  :IBCOOL:

As for the 887 I see a lot of mixed reviews so we will see after this season.
for $349.00 it seems a great value.
I like the feel of it, have only shot it once, but the spent shell ejected effortlessly and was ready for a 2nd bird.
Cycles shells easily when unloaded.
My 1st gun as a kid was a sportsman rem 870, then a wingmaster 870 - still have them both.
Of all the shotguns I own, Rems, Brownings, weatherby, others, I shot best with my remingtons and other than my over/under all are pumps. Fits me well and if it holds up I think I'll be happy with it.
I bought it as a duck gun but had to try it out today.

Heard either a elk bugle or a call. Just once.. either way it was cool.

These blues got the best  of me today, all but one flushed behind trees.

Brody for his 2nd trip is really showing amazing promise.

1st bird with the 887

A sight you don't want to see in the woods, or wild lands, luckily this burn is controlled and planned.

Does it get much better than this?

OK, in the middle of no where, cut off an old closed logging road, dropped though thick brush trying to make my way to a lower road I'm sure should be there to hike back toward truck.
Not sure the meaning of it.. Stash, nick name, memorial? marker for hidden money?
I have no clue but was an interesting find well off any road active or closed and more or less grown over.
