Being a rookie / wannabe archery hunter for my first time (I drew a multi-season deer tag) I borrowed an older Browning bow from my Brother-in-law. Older but barely used.
Since I knew nothing, I went to a local archery shop looking for advice and help in setting up the bow. I was told that it wasn't the right size and nothing could be done to make it work.... they just didn't make parts for it anymore.
After getting it back, I tried to shoot a couple of shots and found the bow to be inconsistent and waaaayyy off target.
Discouraged, I began looking for another bow believing that it was the size issue causing the problem.
A friend mentioned that he had used XXX Archery in Rainer OR before and found the guys there to be very helpful. I thought, what to I have to loose.
I took the bow in just to ask for a second opinion.... what I got was nothing short of amazing in my book. I found out that the previous shop failed to put a screw back in to the cam and that it was then strung wrong. Shooting it could have been dangerous and damaging.
XXX repaired the bow, adjusted it to fit me, installed a D-Loop and new peep sight, and then gave me a private lesson as he adjusted the sights.
I went from "discouraged" to "excited to go hunting" The bow feels good, and is dead on.
How much did this cost? $20! I now know where I'll be buying the rest of the equipment I need for the upcoming archery season....
Thanks XXX! You guys are way cool!
