Good Mule deer Season So Far
« on: November 27, 2013, 07:00:35 AM »
This season started out with with a BANG!!! I shot a pretty good Mule deer in New Mexico on a 560 Square Mile ,Yes Square Mile not acre ranch. We were the only ones there. Gate combo and all. I shot it with a 30-378 Weatherby, 200 grain accubond bullet at 975 yds. 1 shot, double lung.
We then went to eastern Washington last week. We were into some very good deer. 1 was a 5x6 with eyeguards. Saw a 30" 4x4 a couple of times. I missed him at 62 yds. He took a step just as I released my arrow. Wrongway and I were in deer everyday. We saw 25 shooters the first day and 100 deer total. Good trip. After Idaho's elk hunt it is a dream that it could have continued. Now for some more late season elk and waterfowl in washington.

The closest we got was 500 yds to any deer. Everything in this country either want to bite you stick you or stab you. Everything runs. They killed 22 cats in 3 weeks behind the house in the rocks .
