Filson Tin Pants?

Anybody wear the oil finish single tin or double tin pants from Filson? How do you like them? Also, did you add the leather or twill bindings? Mostly looking to use them for upland. Thanks.

I wear the shelter cloth hunting bibs.  The are made out of shelter cloth with an overlay of the oil finish tin cloth where you need it.  They work AWESOME!  I haven't been stuck by any berry bushes since wearing them.  At least not where the tin cloth is.  Have had a few moments where I was bending over tall stickers and straddled them as I walked forward which was a little scary.  But even though the crotch area is shelter cloth everything came through the experience in one piece.  One thing I did do was have them roll up a couple inches of extra material when they hemmed them.  Then after a year of use I took them back and they let out the extra length and put on the leather binding.  They had shrunk in length at least an inch and a half.  One of my buddies has the double tin pants and he is well protected but they are a little bit of a chore to walk in.  When you are lifting your legs over obstacles they do take a little extra effort just fighting the pants.  It is kind of funny to watch him stand them up in a corner after a days hunt and have them standing there waiting for him the next morning.

I have a pair of the double tin pants that I picked up brand new, still had the tags on for $25 at a yard sale.  The things are AWESOME!!

I did a search on here before posting and saw that. Also looks like you let a bunch of people down in the process. 

How often do you wax them? I hear that they only get better as you wear them more and more.

I have a pair of the double knee filson tins... i really like them and your right they do get better the longer you have them. They are like totally water proof it seems and they are awsome if your busting through the brush and blackberrys and stuff like that. Not the easiest to get around it at first but overall awsome to have in the arsenal of gear

i have a pair of tins for workn, they are great in the brush and grate for cutn trees cause if you wear them loose the saw will eat the tins before your leg

Have a pair of the double tin bibs. They are great! I used them for winters in the naval shipyards. A pair of underarmor, and pants, i could handle any wheather.

I can't remember what mine are called, they have the shelter cloth, with the tin cloth on it in the higher wear areas (basically the legs).  The things are awesome!  You can move through stickers and not worry.

I have the chaps with leather bindings on the cuffs.  (oopps, that sounds naughty)  They work great.  I apply the wax at the beginning of each season and melt it in with a hairdryer and they last all year.

I got a pair of doubles that I use for work. I really like them, I got the unhemed version and I have warn them so much that they are a little to short now. For me at least if there is any chance that its going to stop raining and the sun might come out I will wear other rain gear, because its like an oven in those things. I usually oil/wax mine up every three weeks or so it really depends on how much they get used.

I've had a couple of pairs of them that I used when I worked outside.  They sort of shrink in length over time so take that into account, especially if you cut off the bottom and leave them unhemmed. 

Worked well when the goal was just to push through whatever and not have to worry about tearing up your clothes.  Probably good for those bird hunts where you're pushing through brush.
