Sorry about that guy's, I don't hunt bears on the East side, I just always heard that East side bear opened Sept 1. I didn't know that it was different in different area's. I should check my fact's before I speak! :bash: Lesson learned.

This post sounds a little bit like a prank, knowing how riled up guys get on this forum. If its not, maybe a little more educating this guy on the importance of knowing the regs from front to back and how ethical hunting not only effects us, but how nonhunters view our sport. It might be a better tactic, then bashing every one that doesn't understand the responsibility's that come with hunting.

What time did that fire start today in blewett pass?? Not trying to stir the pot just connecting the dots if atvs are illegal in the area.

Well said. I personally think a bunch of Internet tough guys bullying a new member right off the site is way more pathetic than someone shooting off an Atv. I mean come on; treating the guy like a damn poacher is a little far off isn't it??

With the exception of  a few, I am not sure there is to much bullying going on.  I for one was just giving advise that if what he says is true he should delete the post so he does not inciminate himself by stating his breaking the law.  Others appear to be inquiring as to the what the story is, cause it sounds a little fishy.

It is very important that people on this site, new or not, be on the up and up.  I guarentee this site is policed by not only LEO and Game Wardens but also by greenies that would love for our sport to go away.  As an active member of this site I personally don't want to be associated with anyone or any group (HW) that condones breaking the law. Personally I would like to see a mod delete this post so it does not shed a bad light on responsible hunters.  I don't know this member and thus have to believe he just ignorant to the law, however ingnorance is not a good defense.   I hope he learns from what people are saying on here so he doesn't make the same mistake again.

Let the record show I am aware that the fire started  by  a spark from a crew at the bridge.

I can see disaster on the horizon come sept 1st unless we get some rain.

:yeah: And on top of that, doing something illegal is worse than what has been done on this site. Although we still don't know if it is illegal. Looking for a while and not finding anything is definitely unethical though.

Sounds like a prank to me as well.

 :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

Perhaps I don't get it, but where is the proof that the original poster even did anything illegal?

Seems like piling on based on assumptions that mey not be true?

I think I can come up with a legal scenario for eveything in the post......   Unless he shot it with a bow that had a flashlight attached after he shot it with the 243.   And I'm o bear huntign expert, but my brother has shot a ton of bears.   He shoots them with a 257 Roberts.   Not much more than a 243, but he kills hem dead.

Just thought I would throw this out....If it is a prank it is just as bad.  Anyone can read this as a prank or not and use it against our sport.  Still would love to see this post be deleted by a mod.   Multiple problems even if it is a prank:

1.  Shooting from a quad (unless dissabled):  Illegal
2.  Unless you are hanging a tree stand next to a road...the quad should not be there:  Illegal / or stupid for hanging  a tree stand next to a road.  All this assuming it is one of the very few roads up there that allow quads.
3.  Possibley wounding a bear after making a fast / rushed shot with arguabley a weapon that is to small for the circumstances.  Unethical  (I am not saying a bear cannot be taken with a .243 just probably not the best choice of firearm.)
4.  Posting it on a very well known forum for all to see.  Really stupid.  If it is a prank it is almost worse than if it was someone just being ignorant to the law.

I again do not know this poster and the full story so it is all circumstantial, but non the less it is a post that could shed bad light on the sport.  Everyone makes mistakes....In this case it sounds like the OP friend.  Hopefully they learn from it and atleast think about what they are typing before posting it to a well known forum.

So he gets a steady rest on the quad and pops one off.

If he is not disabled then this is illegal. It is all assumptioons, but we are just making sure.

Not trying to shoot the messanger but, if I was hunting with this guy, that shot would have never taken place. Any hunter, hunting with others, I beleive  carries the responsiblitiy of ethical legal hunting for all. In a nutshell, if you knew what was right, you should not have let your buddy do something that was illegal or unethical. Not that you have absolute control of what others do, but you can make your voice heard and refuse to participate. If I was there I would have told the guy I was walking away and going to report him if he made that shot.

I can't tell you how many opprotunities I have passed on because of ethics, safety or just not willing to ever break the law. Ignorance can never be an excuse. The reg's are free! Read the reg's
and be well versed on them before you go out. When in doubt....DON'T!    :twocents:

CAMPMEAT has raised a fair question IMO, I think I will wait to hear from the OP if he ever comes back.

Just a thought. If your vehicle IS NOT street legal, that might be legal to use as a rest. No different than shooting off a bicycle.  :dunno: I ain't doing this to start our typical in house fighting about ATVs.

Nope, street legal has nothing to do with it. If it has a motor on it the law applies. Except for disabled. :twocents:
