Prego deer?
« on: September 04, 2012, 05:32:56 PM »
So, while out this morning I saw a deer (could be an extra large anterless buck) that seemed to look prego. Like huge prego. It was one of the largest deer I have ever seen but couldnt put any horns on it. I figured all of the deer have popped by now. What are the odds that there still could be a prego deer?

Maybe some sort of digestive blockage or something like that???? I can't imagine any does being preggers now, it wouldn't give the offspring much time to bulk up before winter.

Thats what I thought. I was glassing it at 100 yards and put the stalk on it, but it dissapeared. Its a blacktail and honestly was as wide as a shopping cart. Very strange.

Not too far fetched but highly unlikely. Just to show it is possible though, my buddies uncle over in the Colville area had a young fawn with spots near his farm house during mid-November years back. The next year, that same fawn was a spike (most likely the same deer) and still had velvet in late-November.
