My brother got me the benchmade bone collector gut hook for christmas and it zipped my bull open like a hot knife through butter.

I also used the kodi pack set to quarter and skin my bull and they sucked big time!

Oh, and I forgot to mention the Bear Legend, Beaman ICS, and Savora Contender broadheads.  Sharpest broadhead blades I have EVER felt.  All worked flawlessly.  Thanks RadSav

purchased a Garmin 62stc this fall, in addition i got landowner maps from huntingGPSmaps.  the gps worked great and having the ability to see public and private boundaries was a big help.  the setup was expensive but was great in unfamiliar territory.

did not locate any elk for me , that part sucked

love my rip cord and i dont think i will own another rest as long as i live.

   walmart gear!

garmin 2way gps's were great!

didnt get to use my range finder since i shot my elk at 5 yards.

was not impressed with swing blade at all.

and loved my light weight fleece base layer.

I got a little pack stool from REI that worked great.  It was cheap($15 on sale), small and light but sturdy.  At 18 ounces and 22 inches long, it hardly takes up any space in my day pack.

I'll second what was said earlier about the Kryptek Alois shirt and pants.  Great stuff for early season.  Held up well, doesn't stinck, wicks and dries real well, pockets are awesome, and knee pads we're a brilliant idea!

I put on a new Fuse Ventra one piece quiver, and have mixed reviews.  It does what a quiver is supposed to do - holds arrows, and is quiet.  I like the fact that is is dead quiet, and there is no way you are going to knock and arrow out of that quiver on accident.  I guess my dislike is the difficulty of taking an arrow out of it.  Because of how close the upper row of arrow clamps are to the hood, you have to slide the entire arrow straight down and meticulously take it out of the quiver.  I managed to finally cut myself on a broadhead when I tried to withdraw an arrow too quickly.

Only other review that I can offer is, I bought the under armour evo scent control long sleeve t-shirt.  I got this as my warm weather base layer under the kryptek shirt.  It was just ok, not worth the $49 I spent.  For a garment that advertises it's wicking and drying properties, it left much to be desired.  I would get real sweaty-clammy, and be soaked through all the way to my pack.  As an experiment, I took off both shirts which were drenched and hung them off a branch for 30 minutes while I ate lunch.  Half an hour later, and the kryptek shirt was bone dry, and the under armour shirt was still wet.  I expected the exterior shirt ot be drier since it wasn't directly in contact with the skin, but to have the under armour shirt that wet still is ridiculous.  I am going to invest in some merino wool to replace it.

Just remembered another item I really liked.  Goat game bags.  They are very lite and durable.  Used the Alaska game bags in the past but, after having issues with fly larva on last years elk I decided to try something different and think I found my solution.

I hunted elk with a muzzle loader but.... I helped pack out 5 elk with my mystery ranch long bow. I was able to pack out my gear plus a half an elk multiple times. It packed great. It was very stable and as comfortable as that much weight on your back can be. And it cinches down small enough to he a day pack. The pockets inside the pack do a great job of seperating gear. I give this pack Two huge thumbs up. And my Lowa Hunters did awesome again this year as well.

I also LOVE my new Garmin Etrex 20. It did great. And of course my Bugling Bull game calls (Who's Yer Daddy and "The Remedy" called in 3 elk. 2 of which are in small white packages.

Changed packs this year to a Badlands Super Day   Got it for $90 or $95 at the Sportsman's show last January. Never had a pack like it. Best pack I have ever seen.

Once again, the Slick Trick 1 1/8's broadhead performed to perfection. Gaping hole and blown apart rib on the entry side. The damage these things cause never seizes to amaze me.

Gonna have to upgrade boots next year as my old Danner's have been through hell. Will study this thread up and check some out. Maybe even some new camo. I still just wear 20 dollar cheapo pants and camo long sleeve T-shirts from Sportco. They all work fine and I have had success, but I like nice stuff for hunting, I may treat myself next season.

That is in the "didn't work for me" category so far.

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield
