Wifes Hancock 2pt and first shed/New Update!
« on: October 13, 2012, 03:36:42 PM »
Tryed out hancock this morning and my wife had a pretty great day. First she decided to hike down through a clear cut to see if she could jump any bedded down black tails but didnt see anything. On the way through she found a really nice older elk shed  Next we were heading to a new spot and i spotted two nice 2 points down the hill in a clear cut so after a little moving around and getting to a spot to shoot she one shot her 3rd buck. Great day so far. I'm exhausted. hopefully tomorrow morning I have her luck. ohh and by the way, I could of shot the other 2 point that was with hers. But I decided to save him for next year when he's bigger :chuckle: ooh also the very first clear cut we went to I spotted two decent 5 point bulls sparing it out over a cow and a calf.

Gotta buy the pass. Kapowsin pass is sold out for this year tho. Try going to google, type in hancock nw recreational pass and it should give u their website. Read up on it.

Congrats.  My son and I were also in Kapowsin today.  Didn't see any bucks.  But we did see plenty of Elk.  Saw a nice little 5x4 with some cows.  Congrats again.

Thanks everyone! Its a day i will always remember that's for sure. I'm very proud of my wife. When i first spotted them i told her " shoot the one on the right" she shoots and instantly says " i shot the one on the left, it was bigger" :chuckle: not only was she able to make that decision  but was also the first to find her downed buck. Gotta love this sport and cherish all of these memories

Woke up this morning not sure if I was going to go out or not. Wife wakes up when I stir and gets up and starts getting her camo on :dunno: Guess i'm going out like it or not :chuckle: We start heading up to the road that we hunt off of and we spot a nice 6 point bull in a clearcut all by him lonesome. Its always cool to see bulls even with out a tag. Wish one day one of us could get drawn for a bull hunt in hancock :chuckle: Well we start on are way again and by now its shooting hours and we round a corner and there in the road is a doe and a yearling, pretty sweet to see. Continue on our way and we spot a 2 point and a very small spike just off the road. I get out, get to a place I can shoot from and one shot from my youngest brothers .270 Remington and the buck drops. Not the buck I was hoping to tag this year but i'm happy with it (a buck is a buck and like my great grandpa says " YOU CANT EAT THE F##KING HORNS LOL")  This one is going to taste extremely good. Tenderloins are soaking in salt water as we speak, dinner for tomorrow night is planned. As we all can see, This is a young buck and when finely getting my hands on him I could smell his scent glands extremely bad. Looks like It is going to be a early rut this year  Some big bucks will be getting posted soon i just know it!! Good luck everyone and Shoot straight!!!
