Maybe I'm missing something here, but this whole WAC thing.seems like a bit of a scam. Charging me money for the "right" to do something I can do for free anywhere else.

If you had gone to a show about 7-10 years ago you would have seen the benefit to being a member. Tons of stuff. As the shows are now I would say it's not worth becoming a member. Mostly toys, worn out overpriced stuff and pickled garlic dealers at the shows. :)

I haven't been to a west side show in 30 + years they were just getting started when I quit going!
But the same thing can be said for the eastside it's more a craft sale on accessories sale.
I do have a few friends who a LE and I try to run a number on the item!!
Not sure about on your side but you can call the local PD here and have them run them also.

Just protects both parties!!

even though I have a CCL?
And this means I have to buy a member ship? just on the chance of selling this item?

I am a little confused over the "hot" item comment? Why do you believe that a person who passes a background check and or possesses a CWP would commit gun crime? What do you mean by "hot?" Stolen?

Another question, if you were willing to drive from Eastern to Western Washington do you drive an electric car? I ask because would you not spend more in fuel than the $35.00? That was the reason I let my membership lapse. It was to expensive to drive to the events.

The events are not free to perform. It costs money to rent space, insurance, advertising, Security, performing background checks. How would you go about paying for all this if not an entrance fee?

To those whom don't want to go don't. I'd be fine if people decided to just not do it. But I am not OK with Government Officials whom are sworn to uphold the State Of Washington and Federal Constitution deciding they know better.

I see the round about way this thread is being steered to support gun registration. I'd doubt a poll would support such a move. But, who knows?

Pretty sure there's no admission fee to the shows if you're a member too. I am not a member. I've been to one show a year or 2 ago. Not enough interesting stuff there for me to go back unless there's something I'm looking for.

W-Jay, I don't think anyone was complaining about the entrance fee. I think its the "membership fee" that seems questionable. What gov't agency runs these events? I didn't see this going towards a registration issue. For me it was a waste of time and money issue. Dare I say "scam"

OK so lets say I'm not a member and I drive from Pomeroy over to visit my son-in law and I haul my family rifle over to him and he say's hey let's go see what it is worth down the road at the gun show. why do they have to join to sell it?

Sorry you just became the tail on the donkey!!

What makes you think a gov agency runs the event?

I have no idea. I'm not a member, have no plans of becoming a member and I couldnt care less why. The only reason I went to the one a while back is because I was curious, I had a couple hours to kill and it was 8 miles or so from my house. It worked out perfectly to kill a couple hours.

Totally your right. I am glad you'd go before putting it down.   And I don't hold it against anyone if they do not like it. The $35 I quoted was the fee for membership. With membership you do not have to pay an entrance fee. So 4 shows and you are in the green.

But again, don't like it so be it. There have been posters against the right for WAC to exist. They have all kinds of imaginary scenario's and friend of friends who may or may not have committed crimes that they did not report.

No government agency runs it any more than a gun shop. Members but be active CWP or pass a background check for membership. That membership is the registration. The shows are run under an umbrella policy. I'd like things to stay that way.  :twocents:

Come on man! How is the event even going to happen without some form of dues collected at multiple points. Rent out a collosal event center, pay the lights and heat, advertising on all the radios.....  You gotta pay to play!

$35 a year is a great deal if you hit up a couple of shows a year. Protected from the environment, organized event with any one there wanting to buy or sell having in their possession a concealed pistol license. Not a single felon in the bunch buying or selling, just legit straight up guys.  You are not going to find conditions like this anywhere else.

If someone sees a person not following the rules, turn them in. Protect the event.

That. Did I read it wrong? The way I read this is that it is gov't ran.

I think what Jay is saying is that if the people decide they dont want gun shows, that's fine but he doesnt want gov't deciding for us.
Jay--correct me of I'm wrong.

Sorry Ice, I disagree. Now I have never been to one, but from what I am seeing here its a waste of money. And the best way to pay for the event center is the same as any other "fair or show". If you want a table or booth you rent it.
