... I still release wild, rarely anything else unless it's started it's zombie-phase. I'm not a fish snob yet ;) maybe when I'm a whole lot better haha.

I use fish as a thank you for people who let me have access to their property to hunt or fish. They are always grateful and it improves my chances for next year.

I still fish for food not sport. I only keep enough fish that I know will be enough to feed the family for the winter and then I stop fishing. So extra fish is not an issue.

All my "extras" get smoked.  Funny how many new friends you have when the smoker is running.

I really like salmon fishing but don't like eating salmon unless its smoked and I am not good at smoking them.  So I do give a lot of salmon away to friends and family that don't fish but love to eat fish.  I love to eat any kind of cod, halibut, perch and crappie.  Matter a fact I am taking about 30 to 40 pounds of silver fillets to my butcher today after work to have them smoked for me.  Love that smoked salmon.

I end up giving my extra fish away to all my neighbors. Its funny sometimes because they all come running  out to see what I got every time I get home from fishing. They cant wait to get the fish.   :chuckle:

I am one of those who thinks you should kill every hatchery fish you can get your hands on.  So, I end up giving away a lot.  It isn't hard to give away fresh fish.  I also smoke some, but need to start canning.
